What exercises are nessicary for an increased grip??

As much as I'd like to agree with this, I have to use straps when I DL 405+ because of arthritis from working in sub-zero temperatures for years. My grip sucks and I am trying to improve it but I will not let it hold me back so I rely on straps when I cannot rely on my grip.jcp2 said:stop using straps for everything except heavy shrugs.

My joints in my hand literally hurt when I try to grip anything over 365 on DLs.
Sucks to get old.....

There's three different aspects of grip, pinching (ie pinching plates together), crushing grip (using grippers, not the store bought piece of shits, try the IM ones www.ironmind.com), and lastly supporting grip (deadlift, holds in a rack).
The best approach is a combo of all three. Also make sure to do extensor (take rubber bands and put them around the end of your fingers and open your hand repeatedly) work other wise you'll develop an imbalance in your hands that will lead to nothing but pain and injury, I found that out quick.
Thick bar is also good to do, IM has a rolling thunder DL handle I like a lot. Towel chins help as well.
Also if you go to the IM site and scroll down you can get tips from Brookfield on different exercises.
I go as heavy as possible until the weight literally rips from my hands so I do, in an essence, do my shit without straps until I can't do my shit without straps.jcp2 said:Well you have a condition, so that would not be good for you. If you want to improve your grip, start doing all your shit without straps. It worked for me, i have a pretty decent grip for never doing one grip exercise.
Good post....I should try google too.Button Buck said:If you do DL's without straps, static hangs from a chin bar, etc... you're only working one aspect of your grip, your supporting grip.
