increaseing grip

stop using straps for everything except heavy shrugs.
As much as I'd like to agree with this, I have to use straps when I DL 405+ because of arthritis from working in sub-zero temperatures for years. My grip sucks and I am trying to improve it but I will not let it hold me back so I rely on straps when I cannot rely on my grip.
My joints in my hand literally hurt when I try to grip anything over 365 on DLs.

Sucks to get old.....

If you do DL's without straps, static hangs from a chin bar, etc... you're only working one aspect of your grip, your supporting grip. There's three different aspects of grip, pinching (ie pinching plates together), crushing grip (using grippers, not the store bought piece of shits, try the IM ones www.ironmind.com), and lastly supporting grip (deadlift, holds in a rack).

The best approach is a combo of all three. Also make sure to do extensor (take rubber bands and put them around the end of your fingers and open your hand repeatedly) work other wise you'll develop an imbalance in your hands that will lead to nothing but pain and injury, I found that out quick.

Thick bar is also good to do, IM has a rolling thunder DL handle I like a lot. Towel chins help as well.

Also if you go to the IM site and scroll down you can get tips from Brookfield on different exercises.

Well you have a condition, so that would not be good for you. If you want to improve your grip, start doing all your shit without straps. It worked for me, i have a pretty decent grip for never doing one grip exercise.

I go as heavy as possible until the weight literally rips from my hands so I do, in an essence, do my shit without straps until I can't do my shit without straps.

No straps

Best advice.

I used to be so addicted to straps and gloves that when I left em at home I couldn't work out.
I'm lucky to have had an injured thumb for 7 months as it gave me a chance to return without an addiction. Now I don't use gloves or straps or wraps, even if something hurts I just take it lighter. If you must, just use them for some heavy shrugs. Otherwise you will be dependant on them

straps are the fuckin devil. you see people using them D/Ling 275 or shrugging 225. plate pinches, static holds, worked for me. there is also a pretty neat little grip machine at my gym which i am partial too.. and dont ever use STRAPS

masterbation increased my grip tenfold.

seriously though, my friend had an old school grip machine that you could stack plates on, grab and clench it was great, but as far as in the gym, deads work well, and ive always liked standing with the bar behind me, letting it go ni my hands then gripping it ( hard to explain but im sure you've all done them before.)

what about those grip thingys that you squeeze togehter? l forget the name of them...they are in the shape of a V you get diffrent strength ones and all you do is squeeze them together.
