Inventory control in businesses

Just wondering how important inventory control is in a business. I met this person who was the GM of a well known hotel/Restaurant in my area and he kept bragging how he did not have to do inventory as he was making so much money there. So is his statement true? How open is he to embezzlement charges if that cat ever comes out of the bad?

its a way to watch your bizz fall when shit hits the fan.... should always have extra stock and know what you have ESPECIALLY if making money...
pretty much hes bragging about his stupidity, no offense... IMO

Sounds like a scenario thats just prime for the bottom to fall out from underneath him man. I cant imagine business will stay as good as it is now if he really is that lax on inventory and overhead management.

i guess he doesn't know that he could make more money if he controlled inventory. shows he may not be that smart. making lots of money dulls our brains and makes us lax on what is important.
