From my young age, I am severely suffering with over weight problem, and now I am thinking to lose my weight with best procedures at affordable price. I heard from one of my cousins, that Bariatric surgery is the best choice for weight loss. Have anyone undergone with this surgery?Any kind of suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I looked into this a long time ago after three successive knee surgeries left me very inactive for two years and I had put on a considerable amount of weight. There are certain risks inherent with ANY surgery, death being one of them. Your best bet is to talk to a bariatric surgeon and ask them what the specific risks are for the type of surgery you're considering. I know the one that turned me away from surgery was the side effect called the "dumps" where you vomit any time you eat anything with too much sugar/carbohydrates as your "pouch" cannot handle the sudden influx of calories.

It's definitely a serious decision to make and I would not call it the best option for weight loss as learning how to eat properly and exercising regularly will have far better results in the long run. People have certainly had great results with bariatric surgery, but if you can't learn how to treat your body right, you very well could make your standard of living far worse than when you started.

My .02c :)

I can relate... when I was young, I had always been overweight and started to become borderline obese at the age of 15, all I wanted to do was to eat and play video games, all my life consisted of. At 16, I don't know how but I remember I was in school one day and I just thought, "I want to change" literally just like that. The next day I got a gym membership and started a diet and lost weight, I got from 15 and a half stone to about 14, then I stopped and after half a year got back upto 15 stone. Now a few months later and down to 14% body fat, studying A levels, I love nutrition and training and my video game addiction has gone and been replaced by the gym ;)

I don't think surgery for weight loss is the best option, especially at a young age. You may think it's the easiest answer to it but it's not, do diet and cardio and you will be surprised at how quick the results, I was anyway. Oh and you do realise that after surgery, if you don't change your eating habits you'll just go back to the way you are now?
