Is Insulin a "must" to be competitive?

I know exactly what it is. I could write a book on Metformin even before it arrived in the US. I use it daily. We'll just have to disagree on this one, Clamp :)

Lol, then that we will :)

Just curious, why do you use it if you don't believe it is effective at safe doses? Are you using it at the "unsafe" higher doses at which it is effective?

I love that you're not combative. Thank you for being polite.

I don't run "unsafe" or mega-doses. This would diminish B12 levels in your system and even prevent absorption. I also test my pH (potential hydrogen) levels every Sunday. At 500 to 1000mg my pH levels are steadily balanced. When I go over this dose it throws my levels off. At even higher doses it's way off and I backed off quickly because that indicates that my body is headed towards lactic acidosis -- not good. This and a host of other issues are very easily overlooked because they're too detailed for most folks to look into and often misdiagnosed. Anyway...

I run 500mg every night to balance blood sugar, improve cellular immunity, manage cholesterol and for it's cardiovascular improvements. It can prevent heart attacks or strokes.

Apoptosis is the process where your body automatically kills cancer cells. Metformin 'boosts' Apoptosis so it can prevent cancer and even shrink tumors.

At my doses, Metformin is a 'caloric restriction mimetic' and for that reason I have no doubt it can extend one's lifespan. I've lowered my triglycerides back into range with it. There's a whole lot more that comes with Metformin so it's certainly one of my preferred prescriptions.

Wow. There certainly are a lot of uses I didn't know about. I'd love to see some studies/articles on this if you have any handy. You can PM me so we don't de-rail the thread.

I've only seen it used in type 2 diabetics for weight loss, improved insulin sensitivity and in bodybuilding for nutrient portioning (once again improving insulin sensitivity).

In regards to bodybuilding I've heard it was pretty good at:

* Reducing appetite and burning fat, probably due to the lack of appetite.
* Keeping muscles full on a diet
* Inducing ketosis
* Preventing fat gain while bulking or before a starchy meal (once again to prevent fat gain)

But those are the only things I've seen it used for. It seems like I pretty versatile drug, with a lot of health benefits as well. I may actually try it one day.

Well I got a bunch of yes's and no's so Im still in the middle. You guys mention Mr. O but thats actually what Im striving for. I have always had better genetics then the next guy, I could workout twice a week and eat nothing but a twinkie diet and still look better than most.

One more question, I read somewhere that if your not careful insulin can make you one fat mofo if you dont eat right. Any truth to this?

Yes, if you use too high of a dose, have insulin resistant muscles, or consume fats while insulin is in your system then chances are you'll gain a few pounds of fat. However, insulin can still be a very effective tool when combined with the right diet and taken at the right times. You will also need to cycle on and off, and in the time you're off it would be best to consume a low gi and/or low carb diet.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do, just make sure you do it safely.

Metformin at doses that would be effective, would also be dangerous. Vanadyl Sulfate and L-Carnitine are the safe and effective choice.

How do u dose vanadyl sulfate and l carnitine? And do u use those as a starch blocker only before carb meals aka cheating meals , or that can be used on a daily basis??
Thnx aus.

7.5 to 10mg EOD with VS, and 6000mg of Carnitine.

If your goal is to become Mr. Olympia, you will do whatever it takes. Period.

Synthol, Insulin, HGH, plastic surgery, diuretics, etc. If you want to win, there are no limiting factors, and no concerns for things like health or longevity. Ask yourself if that is really what you want.
