Is Sostenon 250 a good first cycle for a 51 yr old newbie?

Hi Everybody,

This is my first post to any forum. I'm happy to have found a place to ask my questions! Thanks!
I'm 51 years young. 5' 10", 230 lbs. high body fat %. I'm big framed and solid but carry most of my excess BF in my abdominal area. I have been working out seriously for about a year. I work out twice a day, 5 days a week. I train in the mornings with the gym owner. He's a body builder and has helped me a lot. He has cycled several times with Sostenon 250 at 250mgs once a week and has suggested I try it! He runs it by itself for 12 weeks with no PCT! I live in a country where I can purchase it legally in a pharmacy. I purchased 12 redijects and then decided I should learn a little before pinning myself with the stuff. Yea...I know... I've spent two weeks reading everything I can find on the internet and this site and realize now that the advice he gave me probably wasn't the best.

Here's my goal. At 51 I'm not trying to have the BB build of most of you readers here. I would just like to look like someone that works out twice a day without waiting until I'm 61 years old to get that look!

Here's my question. Now that I've purchased the Sostenon, and based on the above goal, can you recommend a cycle? I've read where people are getting good results from as little as 250 mg per week. I'm looking to get good (not incredible) results with the least possibility of side effects. I will follow the advise I've read here and run a good post cycle therapy (pct). My doctor is willing to give me the injections so I don't have to worry about screwing that up! LOL... I should mention that I very recently had blood work done and everything is in good shape. My doctor saw nothing for me to be concerned about.

My diet is typically: 4 eggs and 26 grams Whey protein with 2% milk and 5 grams of Creatine post morning workout. Snack is: a 22 gram protein bar with a handful of almonds. Lunch is: 2 cans of tuna or large chicken salad. Dinner is: 2 chicken breasts or 2 ground turkey or beef patties. Snack is: 4 tblsp. of peanut butter and 26 grams of whey protein and 2% milk post night workout. It doesn't look like the best diet now that I see it typed out in front of me! Suggestions appreciated!

I appreciate anyone willing to read this long first post. I really appreciate any and all advice. One other small concern I've read about on this forum. It seems that some people have had anxiety and panic problems post cycle. Is this common? I have had some problems with anxiety in my past. Should I be concerned about this?

Thanks again for any suggestions...

Welcome to the site, unfortunately most guys in the gym are idiots when it comes to gear, they just take it.

Sustenon is a blend of 4-6 esters of test. It just test, like test enanthate, or cypionate, or propionate. They are all the same hormone so the same drug. The ester, like enanthate or propionate simply tells you how many times a week to inject to keep blood levels stable which is important.

Sustanon is ok, I personally find it a huge waste and have used it every way possible, in one year I ran about 200ml of it.

And please do not listen to anyone who says you have to use it every other day to take advantage of the short esters like prop. This is not true. Sustanon was made to be a hormone replacement, and so it only had to be injected once a month, which is pointless.

Now having said that, at your age it's very possible you have low test anyway. You should get a blood test. But 250mg a week is a low dose for a cycle and just a little high for replacement of low test.

I would much rather see you either use test E or C at 500mg a week for 12 weeks. Break that into two injects like 250mg or 1ml twice a week to keep levels stable.

With sustanon, I would still use 500mg a week but you either take 1ml Monday and 1 Thursday or you split it up so you do 500 to 600mg split up Monday/Wednesday/Friday. This will help keep more stable blood levels.

My problem with sustanon is you have the esters beginning to release on different days and if test levels are up and down, estrogen will become an issue.

So you should get an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) , either aromisin or arimidex to manage estro on cycle and into post cycle therapy (pct). then you need a pct, torem and nolva together is my choice but others like clomid and nolva. Clomid seems to cause more sides.

Training twice a day is way to much. If you are overtraining you won't grow. Your muscles need time to rest, you build muscle out of the gym with rest and food. You tear down the muscle in the gym then spend your time repairing them.

You only need to train each muscle group once a week. You can add cardio but you just need the major three, squats, deadlifts, and bench. The rest is just add On's, you can hit arms, shoulders, etc, but they are secondary. You need adequate rest and nutrition or AAS are a waste.

Spend more time here my friend. You are at the age where low test is a likely possibility. Most guys use 150-200mg a week on test replacement for low T and feel like new men and do well with fat loss and gaining muscle. If you do have low T and can get a script from the doc then you do your replacement dose every week, which is still split best into two shots a week. Then when ready to cycle you bump your dose to 500-600mg a week for 10-12 weeks, then no pct, you just go back to your replacement dose. An Aromatase inhibitor (AI) (aromatase inhibitor) is still needed, especially if you carry a lot of body fat or high body fat because you have more aromatase enzymes turning test into estero, which you don't want.

There is a lot of good info here on this board and I'm 35 and there are plenty my ADR and older so you are in a good place but also check into the info given because there are a lot of Internet myths or info that's just regurgitated daily when people really don't know what they are talking about. If I were you I'd first see a doc, look up symptoms of low test, tell him you have those and want to be tested for it, which blood should be drawn first thing in the morning.

Keep in mind, AAS, even test can elevate blood pressure, negatively impact lipids, make ulyour blood thick. High BP is the real cause of any AAS related ailments. If you have high BP keep an eye on it, many of us get on BP meds during cycles to keep it in check. Water intake is very important and you want to have a low sodium diet.

Good luck and again, don't listen to guys in the gym, they are usually 20 years behind in gear use, and most times have no real clue on what to do, also things have changed a lot. We have access to ancillaries needed to manage estro and for post cycle therapy (pct). use them if you are not on test replacement. And don't believe everything people post, this site has a lot of new guys who try to give advise when they really know nothing, like the example of sustanon having to be used EOD because of the prop ester, when it was designed for less frequent doses.

But all AAS are more stable injected more frequently, so Ed is best but not practical. With sustanon my best cycle was 1000mg injected once a week, but I think it was a high enough dose to work well. Under that I would do 3 days a week.

Good luck. Read the stickies at the top of the forum and articles.

^Nailed it. Take his advice.
P.S. I'm younger than you and I cannot recover from training 2x each day. While cycling I may be able to get away with it, but it depends on which body part and the split I'm using. Rest is key for growth.

Wow! Thank you for taking the time to help me out! It's great advice and very much appreciated. I guess I was going with the idea that "less is better" when it comes to sides. Not the case with Sostenon. Thanks!

My typical workout has been one muscle group per workout for example chest in the morning, triceps at night etc. I then start all over mid week. It does seem excessive and probably is slowing my growth. I've only been resting Sat and Sun.

My BP is normal and my blood checks out good. Unfortunately I don't know how my test levels check out as I didn't know I'd be looking into this at the time of the blood work. I'm fortunate to have a doctor that I can be straight up and honest with about this. Unfortunately he doesn't know a lot about AAS when used the way we're talking about. He is willing to administer the injections and monitor my health while I'm on the cycle. Where I live a prescription isn't necessary for any of these meds. I will have him check out my test levels.

I will continue to read the posts here and listen to sound advice like this before I start anything. Thanks again for taking the time to read my post and advise me! Saludos!

Welcome!

Great advice! And as stated, the stickies at the top of each sub-forum have tons of valuable information.

hi oldnewbie - I don't see any veggies in your diet , most of us buy bags of frozen veggies to have with at least 2 of our meals . If your low carbing it then also pick up alot of green veggies like brocalli , brussel sprouts and greens (collard, mustard, spinach, etc.) I cant remember the last time I had a protein bar , except for the homemade ones my ole lady cooks up . Your other protein sources look good ....1 -1.5 grams protein per lb of bodyweight , 2 grams per lb if your bulking it . If you want to go custom diet then 3J here will design a custom diet just for you , his results speak for themselves.....~Bo

My typical workout has been one muscle group per workout for example chest in the morning, triceps at night etc. I then start all over mid week. It does seem excessive and probably is slowing my growth. I've only been resting Sat and Sun. !

After a intense chest session your triceps shouldn't have gas left for anything (even in the evening). Normally I'm:
Sun: Back & Traps
Mon: Chest & Core
Tue: Off
Wed: Shoulders & Traps
Thu: Legs & Core
Fri: Arms OR Off - Arms I train at 2 weeks on 1 week off, only when bulking.
Sat: Off

If I do 2x a day then I still like my above split, but with some variation:
Sun: Back & Core
Mon: Chest
Tue: a.m. - Legs, p.m. - Bi's & Traps
Wed: Off
Thu: Shoulders & Traps
Fri: a.m. - Legs, p.m. - Tri's & Core
Sat: Off

I'm still not big on 2x a day though, so when I want more frequency per muscle group I go once a day with the following:
Sun: Back/Chest
Mon: Legs/Traps/Core
Tue: Off
Wed: Back/Chest
Thu: Legs/Shoulders/Core
Fri: Off
Sat: Off

Each session lasts 40m-1hr tops. I throw cardio in at the end 2-3x a week for no more than 30m.
Everyone is different though and you'll have to find what works best, for you. In my opinion 2x a day is doing more harm than good.

If you can get bloods before starting, check:

Total Test
Free test
Estro (e2)
Thyroid
CBC w/diff (hematocrit/hemoglobin)
Liver
Kidneys
Lipid profile

You could get into dhea, shbg, prolactin and many things but if you are feeling ok just stick to the basics at top. This will give you an idea if where you stand now, then after you want to get back to those same levels or close. Test blood first thing in morning, serum T will be its highest.

I can't begin to tell you all how much I appreciate this sound advice! Thanks! I'm anxious to try a cycle but I want to do it right. I'm going to use all of the advice you're all telling me. Would there be any advantage to me doing a shorter first cycle of say 8 weeks at 500 mg per week (Monday/Thursday split) of Sostenon? I ask the question for two reasons. 1) Because I have already purchased 12 redijects and could easily get 4 more. 2) Quite honestly I'm nervous about the whole thing and I'm wondering if I can get away with dipping a toe in first to test the water! LOL... My first cycle may very well be my only cycle. I'm really just looking to give my body a boost. Would this be of any advantage? Of course I would follow the above advice and use an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and a good post cycle therapy (pct). As always any input greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No problem mate, we're here to help! As for 8 weeks, I would stick with 12-14. Sustanon (sust) is a blend, which contains long esters. These long esters take 4 weeks to build in your blood stream and peak at 6 weeks. So, even though there is test-p in the sust, the stuff is really only starting to get rolling at week 6. You would be cutting it off 2 weeks after it peaked and short changing yourself on results. That's why most advise a length of 12-14 weeks with long esters on a first cycle. Trust me, if you run it 12-14 weeks and your diet & training are there to support the cycle, you'll be very pleased with the results.

Old I am new here also, not even a week on the board. Let me tell you what these guys are saying about the stickies and diets on here and pretty much everything else is really good true sound advice. Of course like one post above mentioned don't believe everything that you read, but I am sure you can weed out the good from the bad advise. You will see multiple different people posting very similar cycle plans and doing research yours self is very good also. Good Luck

From one old to another old welcome. Theres a lot if folks here knowledgeable and willing to help out. With that am sure you know about being self educated specially on anythinga that you put in your body. Dont just take peoples advise. Also how was ur last physical and like stated above you need to do 2 blood test. One which is your regular blood work then you need a hormone check.

Good luck and welcome
