Hi! Is this a good ketogenic diet? I'm currently 200lbs, 6' 1", 21 years old, with a calculated BMR of 1770. My current diet is horrific, only drink 744 calories of soda per day, although I am relatively active. Despite this, I am quite healthy (FBG normal, low cholesterol, normal BP), just yucky looking. I'm trying to get down to at most 140 lbs by next year.
In September, I plan on eating only 1070 cal/day in a 75/25 ratio of protein to unrefined carbs (precisely-weighed out ground beef and french bread for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), cutting out soda, and starting a more intense exercise routine. I also plan on using metformin to suppress my appetite, get myself into ketosis, direct glycogen into my muscles instead of my fat, and lower my carbohydrate absorption. I also plan on taking a multivitamin to cover for nutritional deficiencies.
I plan on doing resistance training (since I'm a busy student, should I strap weights to my arms and legs to increase the calories burned while walking around campus?)
Since only 75% of the calories from protein are usable, and metformin reduces carbohydrate absorption by 1/3, my daily caloric intake will be actually only 781.1 cal/day, resulting in a caloric deficit of at least 988.9 cal/day, which comes out to a weight loss of almost 2 lbs/week.
