Is training each body part once a week enough???

What do u think?Will this be enough for me to make gains or will i lose what ive already got..Thinking of doing a 3 day spilt, with cardio on the rest days..Does anyone only train each part once a week..??
 
I train every body part only once a week. I feel very rested before the time to hit up the gym again so I don't even come close to overtraining, even though my workouts last almost 2 1/2 hours, courtsey of Miss Diana Bol and Mr. T. Enth. :)
 
Thanks for your help.Gonna give it a try for a while..Its hard to only workout each part once a week, even if you know you've been doing to much..When you say quality i take it you mean, like as much wieght as possible and to failure in each set.??
 
There is a balance between volume and frequency, throw in some variables like intensity and rep ranges used.

Find what works, if I train really heavy I dont train very frequently, nor high volume.
 
I know a lot of people that has worked for...I have never tried it tho

...but yeah, like the others said...as long as each workout is intense it can work great
 
I've for the most part always trained each muscle once a week. I made a poll in this forum called "How many times a week do you train each muscle?" and if you look at that, probably 75% of the people train it once a week.
 
I have heard once a week but not sure Im buying into it. That poll said 75% here do once a week. Ok thats all good but do 75% of the physiques on this board mimick what you want to look like. Im not sure about that. They say never trade volume for intensity, but im not sure once a week is the answer. I but my ass and I find some things twice a week are benificial. Plus what do you really mean...If you work say back on tuesday's and Bis on fridays and its workin for you well bis are gettin hit twice and if there blowing up, well thats a small body part responding not getting over trained IMO.
Ok look at the physiques of the past a lot of them did more than once a week. Maybe we're a little lazy.....

i used to do once a wk but i found no matter how i worked out, by the time i reached the next wk the bigger muscle groups (especially) seemed lazy from too much rest. this meant i wasn't making great gains in strength and neither in mass. so i truly believe in twice a wk for each body part to get enough training as well as avoid too much rest. furthermore, just coz the majority use a particular method doesn't necessarily imply that it's the best.
 
Ive tried once a week for around the last two weeks now, and found that I actually lost a bit of strength.I think one and a half, or two times a week suits me better.

you know what if 2 x week works for you have at it. i wish i could hit everything 2 x week. i overtrain at that rate so 1 x week is good for me. some guys respond better to this. only one way to find out.

maybe once you start moving some heavy weight you wont be able to to do 2 x week. i had to throw that in there. :D
 
Day1:Chest, bis
Day2:Quads,hams,calfs
Day3:rest
Day4:Shoulders,tris
Day5:back,traps
Day6:rest
Day7:repeat day 1

So I actually hit everything twice a week.

Okay, I HAVE to say something. Dude, you've bumped literally 20 threads ALL from 2004. I know we're supposed to encourage searching and using old threads if they apply, but what are you doing? There are current threads that have the same questions and far more activity than from something NINE years ago.

I understand that we may have new members coming on here from google and replying to a thread in a hope to get their question answered or perhaps engage in conversation, but this constant one-line responses to old threads is driving me insane. If this is an attempt to earn 50 posts, there are FAR better ways to do so. I'm not flaming you, but come on man - I see your name next to every single thread from 2004.

Sorry mods if I overstepped my bounds, but this is NOT the case that we were asked to be gentle about.
