Keeping Gains

In between cycles
What is the best way to keep your gains? Certain steroids are better than others at keeping your gains i.e. Anavar. Ive even read here that Test is good for holding gains (which surprised me). I also know that diet will play a big part, along with post cycle therapy (pct). So what is lacking when some guys loose a lot of there gains that they made while on cycle. The drug, post cycle therapy (pct), diet or something else? I am sure it’s a little of all three. But holding on to the gains is just as important as getting them.

in a nutshell and IMO
perfect post cycle therapy (pct) designed for the cycle and gear you have run

do NOT diet or use any weight loss supplements or stimulants until you are FULLY recovered

cut back on cardio and add in more rest and sleep until recovered

train heavy and intense but cut reps and sets back and do NOT train a body part more than 1 time per week until fully recovered

damn straight Dawg.

IMO, when guys lose gains, its because they relied on the drugs too much during the cycle to make gains (water, fat, etc). You keep the cals up in post cycle therapy (pct) and do the other things Dawgie dawg said, and you'll be fine. But you gotta do it properly DURING cycle time. And like always, this revolves primarily around your food.

Oh yeah, stay off the scale also.

Im big time with this one! The scale will F with your head pretty well! I notice that many gym shirts don't fit quite as tight in the arms as while on cycle and sometimes that messes with me..but I just remind myself its water weight. bottom line , you'll lose weight guaranteed, but keeping up with training and diet will allow you to keep the true gains of the cycle. Its not realistic to think you're going to hang on to the 15lbs you put on in the first 2 weeks! ha ha

I agree

I think alot of guys feel like shit during and shortly after PCT and stop working out, ive seen it first hand.

Why would you recommend not training a body part more than once per week. I would think that you would like to keep those muscles active.

and you'd be wrong. you're catabolic when you come off thru the first part of post cycle therapy (pct). You wanna still train hard like Dawg said, but not overtrain via volume or frequency.

99% of guys can't handle training a body part twice a week and make any progress. If you go balls out everytime on a body part, you shouldn't be able to do it again in that same week... even on juice. Again, making progress I mean.

I semi disagree with this BUT this is just my personal experience for me. If I hit a muscle every seven days I feel it's just to long I think around 5 days is sufficient and I'm actually more pumped and stronger in that muscle at about 5 days rather than if I waited 7. But everyone is different and I listen to my body and roll with it cause sometimes I'll hit a bodypart after 4 days then sometimes ill wait 7 just depends on how I feel.

no worries, you may be one of the 1%.

I agree with this 100% I've seen my best gains following Mike Mentzers one set to complete failure (after a couple warmups) - it's what Yates based his training around (with modifications)

Except the intensity has to be all balls out - ready to collapse - blackout - throw up or whatever it takes ... "then rest!"

I've found this to be very hard on your system and you NEED to rest of you want to recover and grow.
