Kids weight training

I weight train senior boys after school now, and this one kid grade 9, he has been working out for 4 days(no shiting ya). He can do 75 pound dumbells on 30% incline. This kid can be really strong if he sticks with it. I thought that was fantastic.

huh, thats mega weight dude for a 9 year old kid. I mean man when I was 16 i could do 75lbs dumbelss at 60 degree incline so at the rate he is going he could do 100lbs or more. Does anyone here believe that lifting stunts growth in the teen years?

No, that has been proven to be a fallacy. The only thing that can close an ephisal plate is a huge trauma sucha as a car accident or a fall. Although what I've said is true, spinal compresion at ayoung age is still not a good idea, so I'd lay off the squatting till they have at least 2-3 years of training experience.

that's pretty impressive, i'm 15 and i can only handle about 55lb dumbells for 4 sets of 8-10 reps on a 45 degree incline. But my muscles are already fatigued some from my previous workouts but i still can't do that i'm sure. But no, weight training won't stunt your growth. Maybe from squats since that does compress your spine if you go heavy at least. Deadlifts might too.

Damn Iceman. It took me like 3 years to be able to get up to 55's on ANY incline, much less 45 degrees. Nice progress.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: LIFTING DOESN'T STUNT GROWTH. I am a perfect example; been lifting since I was 13, and I haven't been hurt by it one bit.

I been lifting for 3 years now and i'm 6'5" started when i was like 5'10" so no lifting dosen;t stunt your growth. (16-19 years old)

Thanks bro, but i've been working out for a while now though, but i can make pretty fast gains, i'm only 5'4" but that's just genetics on my part, both my parents are small, so lifting doesn't stunt your growth at all
