Ok I am a sports nutritionist and I know that for an athelete that the low carb diet is crap. I also know that the diet in general can be harmful to the body, but i am curious about a bodybuilders opinion on it. I know that the diets and lifestyle of a body builder are different than an avarage athelte (ie runner, soccer player, bball player). Any opinions would be appreciated

that they are (i just wish the media would show that and not push 'how great ' it is). But I guess I would be asking if bodybuilders include it into their diet (either in a cutting phase or pre-comp).

personally i am on CKD which is a lowcarb diet... it has worked wounders for me. i dropped from 152 - 139 in a matter of 2-3 weeks. without cardio... now im cycling it to maintain my weight but also build mass.. 1 week on 1 week off.... fri starts my week off .

Elite athletes require a higher carbohydrate intake to maintain adequate glycogen stores for optimal performance. As bodybuilders we need carbs to ful our workouts, but we are willing to make sacrifices to cut back. The low carb diet is so popular only because it is so effective. Bodybuilders only use this diet generally for only short periods of time(3months) prior to competitions. The rest of the year our body gets a break form this regime as we increase the carbs in order to increase our size.
