Morning Cardio ?

I want to lose a lot of extra BF put on lately and a friend mentioned doing cardio first thing early in the morning with no food in my system. I cant fathom moving let alone cardio in the morning with no food for energy.

Is it most beneficial to just have a cup of coffee than cardio real early or could you at least sneak in some fruit and a shake than cardio? Thanx

fasted-state cardio is generally steady state low intensity, which primarily uses stored triglycerides for energy. you burn less calories, but a larger percentage of those calories come from fat.

fed-state cardio burns more calories, but uses more glycogen for energy as opposed to fat, and also increases energy expenditure long after the cardio is over.

if youre going for fasted state cardio, dont "sneak" in fruit and a shake. coffee/caffeine/yohimbine hcl is fine.

this link seems be point toward the conclusion that fasted-state carido is FTL, but plenty of people will disagree. Good read nonetheless

After 7 a.m. cardio session what do you recommend a shake or nice balanced breakfast? I was thinking both first shake then hour later nice meal.

When I dropped from 230 to 170 (I was fat) I was doing early morning cardio 5-6 days a week with no food, just fat burner. I alternated 40min steady pace (keeping my heart rate at 160ish) with 30min interval training (playing with my heart rate, using different intervals), all on the elliptical and bike as my knees are shite and running with the extra weight was not happening.
After cardio was food, usually 6-8 egg whites with a couple pieces of whole grain toast, or if I was in a rush a meal replacement shake, then food 1-2hrs later, depending on work.
I would then do a full body workout 3 nights a week sticking to large compound movements.
