So l wrote a thread about the pump you get at the gym so what are your opnions on muscle soreness the next day...do you beleive for your muscles to be growing you need to be sore the next day or not?

Not necessarily is soreness an indicator of future growth--but your muscles do build up by being torn down in a sense. This tearing down is usually the source of soreness and with proper rest and nutrition growth should occur from taxing your muscles beyond their normal capacity.

being used..tiredness..stress...fatigue..that is what the soreness is...dehydration and other reasons. whether it sores or not, it is never an indication. the only thing you can assure if you did it right and not overtrained..but yeah..feeling that soreness is orgasm

Well for me it depends on the muscle group. With legs it's not so bad the day after, but the 3rd day is a living hell...as for arms it's usually the 2nd day...and chest always is always sore the day after, Don't get me wrong they all hurt the day after, those are the days that the pain gets the worse.

intresting...l dont usally get sore the way lm training...its only when l have shorter breaks between my sets is when l'll feel sore for the next 2 days or so but at the moment having 2min breaks between sets i dont get any muscle sorness.

Well I have been training for about 12 years and still get sore after training. Actually I am the most sore 1 to 2 days after training that muscle group. Legs stay sore for 4 days and Im growing just fine. Small muscles like triceps for me stay sore for 1 to 2 days. Without muscle pain I guess I would have to train lighter maybe, which I would obviously not do. :D A good sign that you are growing is stronger bigger muscles. :D

the legs always are the worst for me. Train heavy and you WILL be sore. I enjoy it though, i dont feel as if i had a solid workout if im not sore the next day or next two days.

yeah i train heavy l try to fail between 4-6 rep mark the first few times i done it l got sore but no more soreness anymore guess l needa change it up.

If your progressing without muscle pain that is ok but weird.

When I'm on I never get sore expect maybe within the first week. When I'm off I'm sore for 1-2 days after and in some cases even 3 days.

I started a thread like this a little while ago. DOMS (Delayed onset Muscle Soreness) isn't a sign of growth. It's believed that DOMS is caused by tiny tears in the muscle, which does result in bigger muscles when healed.

But I think the general consensus is that, as long as your lifts are increasing your muscles will increase in size. Therefore you dont need your muscles to ache or be sore in order to grow. DOMS is usually just a side affect!
