Almond Brothers. Did they open for the California Raisins in '86?

i grew up with hair bands and alt rock. Poison, Cinderella, GnR, and all that shit. and Depeche Mode, Oingo Boingo, and The Cure.

Loved the grunge movement but then it got all weird and lost its edge (except for Soundgarden, love Cornell/Audioslave).

Now all the music out there sucks for the most part. I jam to hardcore shit at the gym and some gangsta rap. All new rock sounds like shit. In my car lately i listen to alot of talk radio, but if not, mostly classic rock. Damn I'm getting old.

GnR
Def Lepard
Motley crue
Metallica
Nirvana
Tool
Ugly kid
ACDC
Eazy-E
Pantera
Many more.......

This thread could easily have been titled: You know you're old if...

You guys send me back with this shit man.

My mom was seriously into classical music, standards, and classic R&B and my dad was into rock n' roll, and classic rock. They had a huge collection of vinyl records (I know y'all are old enough to remember those things) from the 50s and 60s and they played them all the time, so we grew up listening to a lot of that stuff--- from Beethoven to the Supremes. I have one older sis who was into 70s pop, and two older brothers who were into disco. So I listened to a lot of that, too.

80s retro pop and early to mid 90s alternative is my dig. Love the pop synth stuff, old skool R&B, and the hair bands.

A few of my favs are:

Teena Marie (only really liked her ballads though. Great background music to fuck to)
Chaka Khan (Great voice, though she looked like a Poodle with those ridiculous wigs)
Sheena Easton (Very pretty girl! Remember 'Sugar Walls'? Best song eva!!!)
Nirvana (My fav alt band)
Pearl Jam
Van Halen
Guns n Roses
Whitney (bitch used to coulda sing like a bird)
The dance stuff from Madonna 's first two albums was the rage in the clubs, but everything she did after that was shit.
Michael Jackson. I know everybody knocks this dude now but Quincy Jones did some cool shit on his Off the Wall and Thriller albums back in the day, and everybody was into MJ back then, but then he got all weird and turned into a giant turd ball and everything he did after Thriller sucked big ones.

Some of 80s rap was cool, too...like Salt n' Peppa. And Young MC with 'Bust a Move' (My boiz and I won a breakdancing competition with that one. LOL.) We were workin' the high tops with the colored laces, the sags, and the backwards baseball caps, and shit, too... Good times! dam, I remember how I used to pop, lock, spin, bounce, slide. If I tried that now somebody would need to call an ambulance. Fucking kids nowadays copy everything we used to do and think they're so original ha ha. Music the kids are listening to now is unadulterated shit! Lady Ga Ga ha ha ha. I still think this chick is a dude. LOL.

Used to have tons of CDs with all this stuff. Now I just channel hop on Sirius. They play every fucking song from the 1940s to the current top 40 stuff, all commercial-free. Love it....

Actually, Prince is a very talented dude. I don't rate him much as a singer, but most of his biggest hits weren't songs that he sang himself. He wrote and produced songs for a number of female performers that became huge #1 hits. The lyrics were always subliminally suggestive---usually about a woman saying how much she wants to get fucked. It used to be his signature style. A lot of people had no idea that Prince was behind those songs because he used fake names on the album credits.
