NBA trade deadline deals.......

- Sacramento Kings traded forward Chris Webber, forward Matt Barnes and forward Michael Bradley to the Philadelphia 76ers for forward Brian Skinner, forward Kenny Thomas and forward Corliss Williamson.

C-Webb coming to the east, should make things interesting and look for them to win the weak Eastern Atlantic conference. Should be a nice compliment to Allen Iverson, but lets see how he reacts when it smacks him in the face that he isn't taking 25 shots a night or taking some mid range jumpers. The only way this deal truly makes sense is if Webber realizes this isn't his team and puts his pride in his back pocket in order to win. From Sacramento's side this opens up the team and allows them to turn the reigns over to Peja Stojakovic, Mike Bibby and Brad Miller.

- NY Knicks sent center Nazr Mohammed and guard Jamison Brewer to the San Antonio Spurs for forward Malik Rose and a first-round pick.

Horrible trade IMO. As a Knickerbockers fan we send $5.5 million in future salary and get back a 30 year old forward in Rose who is making somewhere in the range of $27 to 28 million over the next 4 years. From a Spurs perspective they make out like bandits, adding another athletic player who can block shots and even play PF. This also gives San Antonio a big man presence to cover a Garnet or anyone else at the 4 spot in the playoff run, this way it allows Duncan to stay at the center position and get more boards.

- Philadelphia 76ers sent forward Glenn Robinson to the New Orleans Hornets for forward Jamal Mashburn and forward Rodney Rogers.

On its own this trade does not impress me but with last nights acquisition of C-Webb it was something that had to happen. Rodney Rogers is a free agent at the end of the year and will most likely walk. Mashburn has a knee injury and looks like he will retire with 2 years left on his contract. Also Big Dog has a knee injury and hasn't played a game this year. So with all three players walking away from their teams after this season this trade is a dump and wash for both.

- Dallas Mavericks sent Alan Henderson, Calvin Booth and cash to the Milwaukee Bucks for forward Keith Van Horn.

Not sure where Mark Cuban keeps finding extra spending money every year but they added a nice pop to their rotation. The thing to question here is Van Horn’s psyche. He has been traded quite a bit in the last few years and even threatened to retire after the NY Knicks traded him. No doubt he will fit in well in the big D.

- NY Knicks sent forward/center Vin Baker and guard Moochie Norris to the Huston Rockets for forward Maurice Taylor and a first-round pick.

IMO another rocket scientist move by my favorite bad boy GM Isaiah Thomas, lets take even more salary back. The highest payroll team in the league just got more over the cap for the future. Some of his supporters will say the advantage is in both of these deals we get 2 first round picks. The thing they don't mention is that the 2 picks will be 29 and 30 in the first round.

- Boston Celtics sent guard Jiri Welsch to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a ‘07 first-round pick.

I guess it helps the Cavs with and outside shot and Boston gets rid of a player who lost his starting job earlier this year.

- New Orleans Hornets sent guard Baron Davis to the Golden State Warriors guard Speedy Claxton and forward Dale Davis.

IMO another one sided deal New Orleans gets another top level guard to strengthen their back court for the next few years. I'm sure Davis isn't opposed to going back to Southern Cali where he played his college ball. Hornets get another expiring contract in Dale Davis so it will give them some more cap relief to go with the Big Dog trade they made with the 76ers.

- Boston Celtics reacquire forward Antoine Walker from the Atlanta Hawks for guard Gary Payton, forward Tom Gugliotta and forward/center Michael Stewart and a first-round pick.

Kinda weird that Ainge would reacquire Walker who he traded not that long ago because he said he was a bad influence and he didn't like his work habits. The positive is they trade a disgruntled Payton who has been whining for years, an aging Gugliotta and an injured Stewart. Rumor on the internet is that Gary Payton will be waived so someone will pick him on the cheap. Another good thing for Boston is that Walker is in the walk year of his contract.

- Houston Rockets sent guard Reece Gaines and a pair of second round picks, one in ‘06 and one in ‘07 to the Milwaukee Bucks guard Mike James and center Zendon Hamilton.

Don’t really know any of the players enough to comment on this one. But I do remember Hamilton who was a star at St. Johns a few years back.

-------

All in all I think these deals plus Shaq coming east as well as last years acquisition of Rasheed Wallace by the Pistons has shifted the advantage to the once weaker East. Lets see if anything actually pans out.

The Wolves were out of their mind not getting a deal done with the money their spending and the results they are getting. They should have tried to ship out Spree or Cassell or both!

He's gone now . . . . .They are looking to dump Cassell and Szerbiak but cant cause they've got deals although rumor has it they might just eat the last 6 million of Cassell's salary to be rid of him and use Szerbiak as trade bait
