So as I've stated in previous threads, I've been experiencing abnormal symptoms over the past year or so. Prior to what I have been experiencing, I have been a healthy, athletic male. Recently, however, I have been struggling with numerous digestive issues including: cramps and pain, strange stools (lighter and greasier), abnormal bowel habits (more irregular), fatigue, muscle loss, a somewhat diminished appetite, and excessive gas. I have seen my physician and a gastroenterologist, and some testing was done. The standard comp metabolic and rbc/wbc came back healthy and normal, as did most of my liver enzymes, but my Alk phos has been continuously elevated which points to a potential liver issue. I don't have the labwork yet, but I was told over the phone that the celiac test came back negative..but I'm not sure if it was ttg, iga, or what because I haven't received the papers yet. I had an ultrasound done after the liver enzyme testing which came back normal, but I have made a few connections. About when all of this started happening, I noticed that at the time my stools changed, I had some bloodwork done for a physical. This testing wasn't very significant in general, but I did notice that my total cholesterol came back at 90..which is actually pretty low. I know this can be genetic, but I have proof that this is not my usual because a few years back when I was healthy I kept a cholesterol around 130. Now, there are a few things that can be linked to hypocholesterolemia, but the most relevant to my symptoms would be liver disease and malabsorption. What turns me off of the idea that I have celiac is that my b12, iron, and vit D all came back normal..which would not suggest that I am having issues with overall intestinal absorption. I don't have anything 100% conclusive though..and no doctor is really wanting to look into it. All I know is its destroying my quality of life and really just taking its toll on me.
Thanks.
