Hi, any advice a can get would be appreciated. I have been feeling bad for a long time. Libido has been poor to none and my memory is shot. I thought I was getting Alzheimer’s. My last physical revealed a testosterone level of 329. The Dr. asked if I wanted to have it checked out. I am mad because I asked what it was the year before they said 305 but they never mentioned anything because it was within the normal limits. I had no idea a low t count could cause so many problems. I felt a sense of relief when I started looking into low T and found that all of the things that I have been feeling could possible be linked to one problem. I am 43 yrs old 5' 10" 188 lbs 32" waist. I followed up with an urologist nice guy seams knowledgeable about testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). He put me on Androgel 2 pumps daily started today. Sorry I will now get to my question, I have a varicose seal on the left side that he feels could be part or the entire problem. Has anybody had experience with this? Secondly I asked him if I would need to be on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) forever. He said that he will start me on the Androgel or maybe go to pellets to get my levels where I feel good and then stop them and see if my body starts producing more T on its own. Is that possible? Sorry so long

Welcome to the board! There is a wealth of knowledge here, I'm sure many will be along shortly to answer your questions!

If I understand things right, when you introduce exogenous test to your body, yours will actually CEASE to produce test. Period. So I don't see stopping the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and hoping for your body to maintain that level as possible. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) will be a lifelong endeavour, or at least for as long as you want to pursue it. A newbie to this myself - so if wrong - I'm sure I will be corrected. Much wiser suggestions to come, I'm sure.

I'm unsure about the varicose deal, but to be honest after reading a crap ton of forum posts about gel, cream & patches that stuff is total crap! & wtf he's going to stop if your levels are good to see if you can make your own levels go back up...this is bullshit! Bro you need to get with an Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) guy that knows what they are doing plain & simple.

I just made an appointment with an endo. but its not till August. I guess I will stick with the urologist and follow up with the endo. I hope this guy doesn't screw me up be then. Should I be on Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) as well?

I have a scrip for HCG, can't get it at the moment but the consensus is that it usually keeps your testes producing testosterone. You can't be certain of anything, however.

I haven't tried pellets but they get pretty bad press. I was on cream for five months, am now on injectable and it is so much better it is ridiculous.
