First of all I'd like to say howdy and I'm excited to be an IMT client and part of this forum (been lurking and learning for about 1 month). I finally received my meds today. Here's my basic story:
I'm a 12+ year prostate cancer survivor - diagnosed the day before my 40th birthday. Happy Birthday
.
I have long had libido issues (my Uro believes as a result of external radiation and radiated seeds inserted into my prostate and I imagine as part of getting older as well - I'm 52 now. However, in consultation with my Uro, we chose to not address my libido issue based on the old theory that testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) could fuel PCa cells. Through my own research I learned this theory had been debunked by Morgentaler (Harvard).
Anyway, I started testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) with my Uro in May 2011 at 300 mg Test E every 3 weeks. It worked very well initially - I finally had a good libido, lasted longer and recovered quicker. I had morning wood and random wood throughout the day. It was the start of a new life.
NOTE: I took DIM to counter the T conversion to E. However:
In March 2012, I started noticing a change in demeanor. I really didn't give it much thought for a few months, but then thought it was a B12 issue. I also noticed around summer time that the Test E didn't seem to work anymore - it was like I was injecting water. Eventually I became more emotional, less energetic and enthusiastic about life, not to mention extreme Premature Ejaculation when things did work.
At some point last year, I switched to 200 MG Test E every 2 weeks.
To make a long story short, in December of 2012, I hit bottom - lethargic, sense of worthlessness, depressed about nothing, no longer enjoyed going to work. I then realized that it wasn't that the T was not working anymore, but rather it was the T conversion to E. It was my [lack of] luck that my Uro was on vacation for the holidays, so I suffered through it. I eventually and dramatically increased my DIM while I waited for him to return from vacation - started taking 8 DIM per day vs 2 per day. I also started taking other Anti conversion supplements until I could get with my Uro. This actually worked to improve my emotional issues, but not my libido, and my erection issues worsened from not being able to keep it up to not being able to get it up.
I finally met with my Uro in January 2013 and realized he didn't really have a clue about managing testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) although he IS very supportive. He referred me to an Endo and I finally had hope that I would get the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) that I believed I needed. I met with the Endo in February. However, the Endo didn't even think I should have been on T in the first place and called AI's experimental - he wasn't very supportive overall. It was a dead-end too.
That's when I turned to IMT. My protocol is:
- 200 MG Test Cyp - spilt into 2x per week
- .5 MG Anastrozole 2 x per week (capsules NOT pills)
- HCG @ 500 units 2 x per week SubQ
- DHEA-Pregnenolone @ .25 Grams per day
BTW, I did take labs during January and February on my own and with my insurer - my E and E2 proved to be a bit high. I can post my labs another time, but at this point of being on the IMT protocol, Im not sure the specifics are important. Also, I did get my T, E and E2 tested this morning after I learned I would be starting the IMT protocol soon. Sort of a baseline from my old testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to my new protocol.
I'm ready to start my protocol tonight, but I'm waiting to hear back from my IMT rep as to WHEN I should take the Aromatase inhibitor (AI) and HCG in relation to the timing of my Test Cyp shots. NOTE: I've been taking approximately 50 mg Test E 2 x per week under my Uro prescription and also taking the anti-E supplements in the interim while I've been waiting for the IMT approval and meds. It has worked to prevent the emotional issues, but I have little libido between shots and rarely get wood.
I just wanted to introduce myself
and I'm sure I will be looking to many of you for guidance, soooo THANKS in advance ... I hope this was not confusing or hard to read.
