New to TRT

Let me start with I am 50 years old, 70" tall and weigh 208 pounds. I have started Androgel 1% (one 5 gram packet/day). I have been on it 4 weeks now and feel overall worse than when I started. Although I feel somewhat better in the morning (I apply the Androgel early in the morning) by midday I crash and HAVE to take a nap. My blood tests came back 231 ng/dl (250 - 1100) total T and 40.1 pg/ml (35.0 - 155) free testosterone. I have started to wake up at night around 2 a.m. which I never had a problem with before. Also seem to sweat (palms, forehead) more than I used to. I always feel like I am running hot and freeze my poor wife out of the room sometimes! I did have follow up blood work drawn last wednesday so should have results soon. I think my t levels will actually come back lower than I started based on how I feel.

I did send in my medical questionaire to Chip and will probably go with him for my treatment since my doc doesn't seem very up to speed on trt/hrt protocols. Sounds like a lot of you guys are very pleased with his treatment.

sounds like your hormones are off , you need labs. most 50 y/o start to feel great around week 4.

maybe doc will get you on IM test eventually.

on another note for future reference ... androgel applied to upper inner thighs will increase test levels more than applying to arms.

I would consider going with a testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinic. You said you had sent info into Chip (not sure if you've heard that he's passed away. I think Max is still around though). I signed up with IncreaseMyT (IMT) and have been working with Todd, they've been awesome! Highly recommended.

Brazen, welcome to the 'Ology. Check your bloods when they come back, and see what your estradiol reading is, if they tested for it. If not, get it tested. Either by your doc or privatemdlabs (female hormone panel). JMO, but waking at night, hot flashes, sweats, etc. sounds like high E2 to me.

I had not heard of Chip passing away. Sad to hear it. I've only been on this forum a short time.

After reading through more threads/posts I guess Chip was the founder of Maximus? Are they still in business? Who is running the company now? I did receive a prompt reply after filling out the medical questionaire so the website is still running. Anyone still doing business with Maximus?
