2GAINS

So I watched this documentary on the man Arnold and it said while he was trying to gain mass he still had low carbs to keep the shredded look. Now my question is if you are running test for example and you lower your carbs to decrease fat and leave the mass gaining to the test. Does that work out if you wanna get bigger and at the same time look cut?

Umm... test is not going to do the mass gaining for you. It's 100% up to how many calories you consume, and how many you expend. But to answer your basic question of "is it possible to get bigger and stay relatively lean?" the answer is yes. You will add fat and water weight at the same time, but it is possible to stay "lean".

So lets say I did a cycle of test while bulking, gained some mass. After my cycle is over I decide to cut, by going on ketosis. Will that lose the gains I made from test? Or gains are gains, it doesnt matter from what you get them?

A little of both. Keep the protein high and keep lifting. You can cut fat without loosing much or any muscle. One of the biggest factors will be how close you are or how far over you are from your genetic potential. I'm pretty sure you're not there yet, so I wouldn't worry about it.

^ this.

Also if you do a keto diet, you are going to drop a lot of water weight pretty fast and your glycogen will be depleted. You are going to feel and look small / flat. Just try not to let it get to you and stick with it.

Keeping gains that you gain with AAS is dependent on your post cycle therapy (pct) and quick recovery, your diet and training, and how far past your genetic potential you are if at all. Low carbs alone will not give you the shredded look nor will it keep you lean, it depends on the full effect of your diet (how much of a surplus or deficit you run and what your essential macros are like). Reducing carbs will only reduce water weight given isocaloric diets. To answer your first question, no, bc the test is not what makes you bigger, the excess calories make you bigger. Testosterone just increase the rate of protein synthesis, calorie partitioning, and recovery aspect. The only gains it will give you with a poor diet is water weight gains which will quickly dissipate after the cessation of the cycle. If you want to get bigger and minimize fat gains you will have to use a smaller calorie surplus and the essential macros to achieve this and carbs could be high or low and won't make any difference if comparing isocaloric diets.

2nd question: gains are gains and don't matter how you get them UNLESS you are going past your genetic potential which seems unlikely here (no offense OP). Ketosis itself will not cut fat bc you could bulk on keto just as easily as cut. The calorie deficit is the number one regulator of weight loss while macros and training will determine if most of the weight loss comes from fat or muscle. In short you can expect to keep all or most of your gains after the cycle if you maintain proper nutrition and training after all is said and done.

So then optimal way according to you to get from 9% bodyfat which I am in my bulk (relatively lean) to about 5-6% which I want to end up after my gains from my first cycle. Would I go about it the same way as if I gained the muscle naturally is what I wanna know.

Makes sense, so pretty much do it as if I made the gains naturally.

Yes unless you're using AAS for cutting which could afford you more leeway in certain aspects but generally cutting is cutting no matter if the gains are natural or from a cycle. Not to discredit you in anyway but many ppl things they are sub 10% BF and very few are. I'm not saying you're not 9% but it wouldn't surprise me if you were a little higher either. To get to 5-6% will take HARD WORK AND ULTIMATE DEDICATION. It is harder than you could ever imagine to reach that level and maintaining it for any length of time is completely unrealistic. You could peak at that level but you will not be able to maintain it for weeks even.

Whoa, where did you get those body fat numbers? Are you really that lean? Can we see pics?

Ur thinking Im higher than 12?

Maybe, Like I said, I'm not a good judge. Where did you get your numbers? Were they calipers or a dip tank?

I know a few guys here are much better at this than I am. Hopefully one of them will stop by.

Back to your OP, Are you planning to run a cycle or just asking out of curiosity?

I think the problem with your BF estimates is that you don't have much muscle mass underneath which is altering your perception a bit. At 7% muscular or not one would expect much more vascularity in you (around the forearms especially). I just don't see that. We're are you getting your BF estimates from? Being measured or just guessing?
