offseason bulking duration

300lbs of Heavenly Joy
I have been on a serious offseason bulking program for 5 months now and I am still getting great results, how long before I start to cut and get leaner. Is this a typical offseason duration or do most people bulk for a longer or shorter period?

If you get over 15% you should start leaning out and try and hit 8%. I continue bulking from the time i get done with a contest till i start getting ready for the next one. Usually 9 months.

I've managed to keep my bodyfat percentage around 9% while putting on 35lbs over 5 months, so nine months offseason sounds like a good timeframe.

This is a typical day on my present bulking diet.

Breakfast 2 eggs, toast, coffee bowl of oatmeal
Snack about an hour later--Detour protein bar--glass of milk
Lunch- Resembles a typical meal Mom would make--roast meat, soup, salad, green vegetables, starch vegetable with 2 or 3 glasses of milk
Post workout-Protein shake--
Dinner--Grilled meat or fish with green vegetables and 2 to 3 glasses of milk.
Evening snack--no later than 7pm---tuna salad and 2 to 3 glasses of milk.
Throughout the day I try to consume an entire gallon of whole milk everyday.

That's basically my diet

Man what are your stats, I take in more calories than this when I am dieting, but thats just me, everyones different

When I am dieting I eat a little less in each meal and eliminate the gallon of whole milk every day. I generally try to eat the same all year long. I simply increase the amount of food and add a weight gainer such as whole milk when bulking. My stats are:
5ft7in tall
205lbs at approximately 9% bodyfat---bodyfat measured at a training center ---water displacement--the most accurate measuring tool

Man your thick as hell, just keep doing what you are doing everyone is different, so you just have to follow the basics and dial yourself in with trial and error.

I think I am going to continue bulking until I reach 12% then I will work to get as lean as possible without losing the mass I have been able to pack on. Another 4 months or so of bulking sounds like the right timeframe for me--I am now adding 100% whey to my milk consumption throughout the day. I figure that this should help, I really like the taste of Optimum Nutrition chocolate mint 100% whey. It makes drinking all that milk like having dessert all day long.
