Okie bar deadlift

it has more flex than a normal bar but unless you pulling 7 or better it prolly not gonna make a big difference. obviously the more you pull the more flex you have so inches are shaved off the lift.

the big advatage for those who know how to use one is you can take the flex outta the bar after set-up so it puts you in a higher starting position while maintaining a strong starting position. this takes a little practice.

I don't know if you've ever seen sebastian burns pull but I pull with his style. I rolll the bar forward and when I roll it back towards me, I pull myself into my stance/start position. (I can't get into a good start position without doing this do to the suit)

I wonder if this would take some of the slack out of the bar as you mentioned? Taking the slack out of it would give you a higher start position but I wonder if overall it would hurt you inthat you would not be able to get the rip and momentum going?

I'll let you guys know what my expereicnce ends up being. My workout partner (John Paromba) pulls about 800 suited and is pulling in this meet. He said the okie bar should add 25 pounds or so to my DL.

i dont like rolling the bar away and back but my pard does. its a personal preference.

as far as what you get outta the bar its a guestimation. the bar messes some guys up if they not used to it. the only way to know for sure is to use a standard bar and an okie bar in the same training day.

i dont rip the bar off the floor. i start slow and steady so i dont get rounded over. pick up speed as i go along. i pull over 8 suited up and it works for me. everyone is diffferent.

I can't get as much leaving the bar stationary. Personal preference as you mentiuoned. I pull sumo though. I don't know if that make s any difference. My pull looks more like a squat. I just kind of stand up with the weight.

Kind of like this

work up to a max one week with a reg power bar then the following week pull with the the DL bar

but its like PB said its the heavier weights where you will notice the difference

i pull sumo too.

very few of the wpo lifters do that roll thing. its really more for guys who have probs getting down to grab the bar suited up. in fact i cant think of any of the top pullers who do that roll away thing. im sure ther eis one or two but none come to mind. travis does it but its to make grabbing the bar easier and he normally pulls mid 7s. he pulled 8 at one meet i know of.

i personally think its wasted motion but f it works for you..............

after watching the clip i see why sebastion does it. so he can get down to grab the bar. :D i dont like the way the bar moved away from him ina crooked path either. thats gonna lead to trouble. one of our guys was doing that same thing and the bar kept rolling crooked. we made him stop it. he looks much better now. he just setys up about 6" from the bar then after he grabs it he puls it back, sets up and pulls.

not knocking sebastion, hes a great bencher, but his deadlift leaves a little to be desired. :D

IMO rolling the bar just creates more potential problems. I broke one of my training partners of it, joel uses it but he can't get to the bar any other way. If you don't need to do it, i would not do it.
