Oral low-dose testosterone administration induces whole-body protein anabolism

Yooooo
Hi, my father recently had two surgeries a year apart from each other, specifically he had a lumbar laminectomy for lumbar spinal stenosis and then a cervical spinal fusion of C3 - C7 vertebrae in his neck last January. He is 67-years old, and even though he is undergoing physical therapy his surgeries have resulted in significant atrophy of his muscles. I was wondering if adding testosterone therapy would be beneficial in his recovery during his physical therapy. Also I came across this study about small doses of oral testosterone at a dose of 40mg/day (unesterified crystalline testosterone USP) directed solely to the liver to stimulate protein synthesis, to prevent muscle loss and wasting, and promoting muscle growth. My question about this study is I have always read that oral test can be toxic to the liver and kidneys (some more than others), so does anyone have any info/opinions about the risks of unesterified crystalline testosterone USP on the liver and kidneys?
