i've had great success with cutting whilst on the the low carb diet.
i've stayed on a semi low carb diet since and have remained lean.
now my body fat is low i want to bulk,
is it possible with low carb?

my only reasoning is that when fat is your primary food source it's not hard to get a ton of calories in a meal.

btw my current diet is low carb, except for a large bowl of oats for breakfast.

enough protien that your body will turn to fuel will help you bulk with minimal carbs...it'll be expensive though.

Imho I really don't think so.......not saying it isn't possible just that carbs are essential when building. If you're looking to bulk up then you've got to expect to gain some fat to help you build what it is you're looking for. Why not up the complex carbs and leave out the junk carbs and see how that works for you, If you gain too much then cut back on the carbs again.

I definately think so.

I actually think it'll be a leaner bulk than a high card one too.

I wouldnt be trying to get my cals from excess protein like Acezch suggests though, i think you're on the right lines with your high fat idea.

Get your 1.5g/lb of protein (or more, whatever) then just cram a ton of avacados, nuts, olive oil, flax seeds, fish oil etc down.

EDIT - cram a load of carbs after training though, simple 1st, then complex.

Let us know how you get on cos at the moment im maintaining very nicely on a diet like this but not tried to bulk on it yet.

I've known people to try bulking on a low carb diet. It can work but the general concensus seems to be that a high-carb bulk is more preferable.

I would think a person would look leaner because the muscles don't "fill" out as much. If I have a few low carb days and then a high one my muscles "PoP" out after.

Most certainly you can bulk on a low carb diet! As long as you are getting enough calories. Its easier to get 4000 - 5000 calories on a regular bulk diet. Its more of a pain in the ass to get your 4000 - 5000 calories from mostly one food source which I think is why most people don't do it.

milk, whole
whole eggs
steak (chuck roast)
almonds
avocados
heavy whipping cream
lamb
pork

all great things to bulk with IMO.

Hey, where there's a will, there's a way. I mean c'mon- 1/4 cup mixed nuts= 200 calories. The diet's just going to be a little higher in fat, which is definitely why you still want to keep an eye on avoiding too many saturated and trans fats. Other than that, good luck and G-d speed!!!!

I think everyone knows my personal opinion and that is you should have a balanced diet. No extreme one way or the other. Its your health!!!

This is so right on the money! My coaches have gotten alot of people up to pro level but at what cost? And this is what I think about often. I see great results with a no fat diet but the long term effects are what scares me.......

Agreed. No need to cut them out completely but also no need to go crazy with carbs and become fat. If you want to lean bulk, just keep the carbs somewhat constrained.

Just started a new diet today myself.
Not really a diet, just counting the protein for the 1st time and limiting all fats & sugar.
I've never been much for carbs though.
Mostly just oatmeal in the am and fruit & veggies through the day.
I still wanna bulk as I'm right in the middle of my cycle and def trying to gain but I want it to be as clean as possible.
Sorry if I threadjacked a bit. I'm new.

Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice, Chicken rice.

i thought you were using MCT oil? and how do you avoid fat in meats?
also your coaches are morons, if they think fat is NON-ESSENTIAL.

MCT oil has been gone for 3 weeks now. Obviously I don't avoid fats in meats.....I figured that would be obvious to most.

yes and no, when some one tells me they are on a "zero" fat diet i assume they have a specialized diet were they are not consuming any fat whatso ever. it is possibel through the use of protien powders and selceted foods.
