Possible to lose 10-12lbs in a week??

Brat

PiNCHe GRiNGa!
Alright...here's a stupid question...I got a weigh-in Friday, 29 April...With my measurements and stuff, my recruiter said I need to be about 10lbs lighter than where I'm at now to get to the MEPS and stuff...I know it's totally unhealthy and all, but is there anything y'all can recommend for droppin' the weight?? Right now, I would just be droppin the weight to enlist and then spend the summer doing it the right way (diet and cardio, and hitting the weights harder) before boot camp...I've been reading some posts in the competition forum, and basically most of it seems to be water depletion and cutting sodium...? I guess my big thing is about the water depletion stuff...do I drink a lot of it the first coupla days (say, Sunday thru Wednesday?) then start cutting it out (with a product like Taraxatone)...?? I'm not getting a lot of carbs or sodium now as it is...Any help is greatly appreciated...:dunno:

I lost 5 pounds in one week just by changing diet and 30 minutes of cardio 5x/week
Eat 5-7xs in the day small meals high in protein and with brown rice during the day cutting carbs at night.

I really highly don't recommend this....... Alrighty, disclaimer in place. If it has to be done.....

It's gonna be mostly water weight. All carbs out of the diet right now!I mean ALL of them! NO sodium. Not even a pickle with your tuna. Gone! I don't want you to take any supps. I think you can pull 7 lbs of water and 3 lbs weight loss easily.

You are gonna be one cranky girl though. ;)

Up the water to two gallons a day up until the day before weigh in then drop it to 1.

No more than 900 kcals a day and promise me as soon as you weigh in you'll go eat some spaghetti. :)

Thanks for the reply...just gotta coupla questions...

Okay, here's a sodium-related question...I'm a vegetarian...My two major sources of protein are relatively high in sodium: a Boca (c) vegan burger has 330mg and 1/2 c of low-fat cottage cheese has 480mg...Do I cut these out??

And does no carbs = no veggies?? I'm difficult, I know...Why no supps??

Ohhh...btw...every time I weigh-in, I actually go home and just gorge on fresh fruit...mmm...hehe...

I'd love to help you on this - but trying to what your doing is not healthy and i would feel extremely awful if something were to happen to you. Sorry

Sorry. I didn't realize you were vegetarian. No eggs in your diet at all?

Ditch the Boca burgers and go for the tofu, rinsed of course. As far as the cottage cheese goes I believe there are low sodium versions available.

Veggies: green and leafies only and limited.

As far as supps a multi and some flax would be fine. I just don't think you need a thermogenic to pull this off.

Like I said before, I really don't recommend this, hun. But if it has to be done that's how I'd go about it. Do NOT try to sustain this any further than your weigh in! I expect you back on track to lose the weight the correct way after that. It's going to be mostly water you lose with this. Any body weight will likely be mostly muscle so you really don't want to prolong this diet.

No. It's not healthy. But she's going to try and do it with or without our help. I'd rather her have a little guidance than out and out starve herself for a week.

I know it's not healthy...and that it's quite stupid...It really goes against everything I know to be right and all that...but at the same time, it's something that I really want to do (enlist...not drop the weight quickly)...and I'm just looking to get down to the weight so I can enlist and ship out in the fall...I would mos def gain the weight back, but I would spend all summer taking it back off with cardio and a clean diet...but it's cool...I understand your concerns...It's weird...I was given this diet to follow and I dropped some considerable weight in three weeks, and these ppl. at the gym keep asking for it, but I refuse to give it to them because it's very unhealthy...I've learned over the past coupla years that my body can take a beating and recover nicely...but, like you, I would feel like shit if I gave this diet to someone who was doing it simply to fit into a wedding dress in July like one woman wanted...

Whoa. What diet? You've been doing this for awhile?

I was under the impression you were just needing a one week fix.

I eat eggs...But they seem relatively low in sodium (like, 60mg an egg I think...?) compared with my other two major protein sources...I've been looking for low-sodium cottage cheese for a while, but I can't find it...people around here must not care about their sodium levels...I use no-salt ketchup, Nu-Salt salt substitute, Mrs. Dash, no sodium vinegars...I've become very conscious about my sodium intake this year...

And I mos def won't do it for any longer than Friday morning...I like food too much...hehe...

Then get your egg whites in this week. There's your protein. Gonna be boring as all get out but.......

Please....PLEASE take me seriously when I say NO LONGER THAN A WEEK!

Good. I've seen some girls absolutely WRECK their metabolism doing this or the other "fad" diet. Not worth it and makes it harder to achieve your goals in the long run.

Be safe, hun. :)

I have my RMR tested every month to see how my metabolism is being affected by what I eat/take...had it tested Friday morning, and "Compared to a typical person of similar sex, age, height and weight" my RMR is 24% faster...It was taken 45 min. after I got up on an empty stomach, no supps...

did you let the recruiter bullshit you into thinking you couldnt ship out later? these fuckin people have no soul. all they care about is getting as many dumb kids to ship out as soon as possible. take your fuckin time and enlist when you can. i got sent to marine corps bootcamp with 4 broken ribs because i was dumb enough to believe my recruiter when he told me if i didnt ship out when i was supposed to they would find out about my ribs and not send me at all. the first month was hell trying to breath but my dumb ass went ahead and listened to my shit bag recruiter.

in my humble opinion youre really really dumb to be freaking out over ten pounds. youll get to bootcamp soon enough, and then youre going to wish you hadnt.

You know what? This is something I want to do...That's all I'm going to say...

I guess it is...

Weighed myself this morning and had lost the 10lbs I thought I needed to lose...went to see the recruiter ASAP this morning...only had lost about 6lbs on his scale..."Five more pounds," he tells me...Had I had the energy, I might have clocked the SOB...Oh well...I'm going out for frozen yogurt tonight with a friend...we're telling ourselves that it's yogurt, so it's good for us...hehe...his idea, not mine!! I guess I'll keep trucking, eh?
