Post Workout Drink...

I usually have a shake that is two scoops of whey and a scoop of creatine mixed with water. I've been reading a lot of articles that say you should have an intake of carbs after your workout. Why is that, and could I implement that in my shake somehow?

Peace,

S.

you want carbs to replenish glycogen stores in the muscle.

you can use dextrose/maltodextrin powder or waxy maize starch (all three can be found from the link in my sig), you can use powdered gatorade, or you can eat whole foods like bagels, muffins, pasta, etc. I also prefer a little fructose (fruit) post workout as well to replenish liver glycogen stores - although muscle glycogen is the main focus.

what are you trying to acomplish with the rest of the diet?? I think you need the whole picture before giving advice.

for example now in the off season i wait at least 30 min before eating anything. the recovery isn't as good but I keep using fats for fuel for an extended period of time.
