Post Workout-Meal/ Cardio question

I think this is probably my first post I've made on this forum since I've usually found my answers through searching. Maybe I got lazy on this one, but I didn't find quite what I was looking for this time. I usually try to eat a post-workout meal of around 40 grams of protein mixed with 70 or so grams of carbs (most often I just mix some protein powder with a 20 oz. bottle of Gatorade). I try to take it a.s.a.p. when I'm done lifting, but with my schedule now, I'm finding myself doing cardio after I finish lifting. I know I could do cardio first, then lift, but I like to be fully energized when I lift. My question is should I take my post-w.o. meal, then do cardio, or do the cardio then take it (I do between 20 to 30 minutes) to maximize the benefits?
Any advice is greatly appreciated, and thanks for the help.

A little about me...I'm a 20 year old college basketball player, but I tend to train more like a bodybuilder during the off-season because gaining weight does not come easily to me. I'm 6'1", and about 180 lbs, which is fairly big for my frame. At the moment I'm just trying to get cut for the summer while still gaining some quality lean muscle and keeping my weight fairly close to where it's at.

I would do:
(1)weights
(2)cardio
(3)meal

For a meal I use Waxy Maize Starch. I take it immediately after my workout. Then 20 minutes later I have some Protein Powder, Fruit, and usually oatmeal

What Easto said. A lot of people put 10x more effort into their PWO meal than they do the rest of their diet, not saying you in particular, but just a thought.

Thanks for the advice. That was kind of what I was guessing, but it's nice to have some reassurance. And I know that doing cardio before weights is definitely not the most efficient method amongst bodybuilders, but personally I know some athletes and guys at my gym that do it that way.
