powerlifting knee wraps

I bought some about a month ago. Before them I was finishing out around 435 for 3 or 4 and last week i smoked 455 for 3 and it was a lot easier than I expected. Next week I'm gonna put on 475 and see how it goes.

i have some and they do assist in lifting. I don't like to use them because i feel like they are helping me lift the weight and i would rather lift it raw. i am curious to find out if they are necessary at heavier weights to protect the knees. heavy for me is low to mid 400's. should they be used or is it just a preference? I have APT straps.

that was my main question, if they help protect the knees, beacuse my last set is 500

bump this question. I'd laso like to know this. I can't go real heavy in squats because of my two herniated discs in the low back but really hammer the weight on the incline leg sled. I had surgery when I was 18 opn my left knee. I had a torn meniscus. IT is fine and gives me no probs but i'd lke to use any preventative mainenence if I can.

When doing 400+ for multiple reps, wrap em. I used to have insane knee pains after every squat session, and i use 405 for 10 reps normally. Bought Inzer wraps, pain is gone, squatting is more comfortable than ever.
Bottom line is u arent impressing anyone but yourself lifting big weights raw, is joint damage really worth that self-impression?

I know PB is different but i never ever wrp my knees and have squatted over 7 in just a suit and belt..wraps (for me) are the absolute last thing that go on..

remember too if you get 20-30lbs out of them that great..but it is only a 1 time increase..so if you hit x weight for 3 reps add wraps and get 20 more for 3 somewhere down the line you are still going to have to get stronger in order to push more weight...

second why are you or anyone in this thread wrapping their knees??? if you have a knee problem that is different but if you are having discomfort thats another story and most likley a form issue..

ive been on both sides..when i was a closer stance squatter i would wrap anything from 315 on..since widening my stance and using better form wraps are never used until the meet

thanks. i used them for a very short while a while back just to see what they did. i don't and haven't used them in a pretty long time. my knees are healthy and i never had any probs with them. i thought i would throw the question in there to see if others thought it was necessary at heavier weights. i personally do not like them and do not think they are necessary...for me anyway...but i don't lift the weight some of you guys do.

knee wraps protect the knees.

i wrap at around 500 for narrow stance raw squats but like BB i dont normally wrap til i go over 800 if i use a wide stance and in full gear.

I use them in hope that I'm saving my knees for later on down the road. All that weight on your knees can't be good for them. I start wrapping around 400.

not worried what others think about amount of weight being lifted, however i would like to know if this is true. are we damaging our joints by not wrapping the knees when going heavy or are we reducing the chances of damaging our joints. i have no knee pain, never really have, but i don't want to have knee issues later because i lift heavy now.

Im pretty sure that it helps, somehow. Either by helping you to maintain correct technique, (a lot of people tend to bring the knees further than toes, especially with big weights, and wraps sorta prevent this from happening) or by raising the pressure within the joint, i dont know. Bottom line is I can squat heavy and pain free with wraps and this is all i care about really.

I don't really find this to be the case, It kind of feels like my legs are getting pushed forward by the wraps and I have to work extra hard to heep my hips back. I agree about the pain free lifting part.
