Private MD labs residency? Anyone try going out of state to get their bloodwork?

My buddy wants to get blood work but we live in states where they don't work. We are in the NY/NJ area and were wondering if he could drive to PA and get it done there even though he is an NJ resident. Does it work like that? Thanks guys

Yes you can. CT, Delaware are other options too. I had a member come down from Canada even and he was able to get the tests in Vermont.

i live in new jersey and was planning on getting bloods after my cycle. are you telling me i cant? i cant just go to my doctor and say i havnt gotten bloodwork done in years and id like to see if anythings okay?

Who's to say he'll get the bloods you want that way? He's referring to private blood tests outside the doctor's office so he won't be alerted to possible illegal drug use.

You can go to your doctor and ask him to run certain blood work. You are opening up a potential can of worms though. I would recommend using a private lab instead.

You can go to your dr and get any blood work you want done. They can not notify law enforcement without there being a request by a judge and a signed warrant. The only thing is your dr may not submit it under a yearly work up or other some other covered request and insurance will not cover it.

Unless you were under investigation by the Feds or some shit. I'm open with my Dr and have no issues at all. The beauty of hipaa law and Dr pt confidentially.

The issue is not HIPPA violations or law enforcement finding out. It's the insurance company finding out and it being on your medical record for the rest of your life. Imagine being turned down for life insurance bc of this.

Also not every doctor is liberal enough to run labs just bc you say so. Some are and it's great you have a good relationship with yours but many aren't like that

good to know. thanks guys. my doctor seems pretty cool and she always comments on my weight gain. im in there a lot with bronchial infections and sinus infections like every other month. i want bloods though so i guess i need to start researching private labs and costs. any recommendations in jersey area?

You won't be able to get them done in NJ or NY due to medical billing laws. You'd need to go to another state such as PA, DE, or CT. Here's a thread I made in regards to private blood tests. If you have any questions just let me know. Megatron is another expert in this area.

Expert? Let's not get carried away here. I know how to pick a panel and chat up the phlebotomist if she is cute, but that's about it. :-)

Always happy to try and help though!!!

Did not know about NJ, NY issues. And yes it's all about how the Dr bills the insurance company. There are hundred different codes it could be billed under that would have no effect on anything in the long term. I have never had an issue with life insurance and I have three different policies. I also have a private cancer coverage. They can verify serious medical conditions to increase premiums or deny you. I wouldn't think just because your getting levels checked wouldn't influence your ability to get a life insurance policy . It would be the same as switching insurance company's if looked at it like that.

Interesting to know I'm going to have to do some more research.
And I apologies guys I do not know with your particular states.

It isn't the fact that you are getting labs done, it is that the lab results will be in your medical records. Do you want them to see that your Total Test is 4000 (if done on cycle for example)? Or see any of the other results that might show up?

It's not bc you're getting your levels checked but if you do mid cycle and the doctor see ~5000ng/dL serum levels he will know what you're doing and under medical law he will almost always note it in your file. Look up Juced. Porkchop's thread regarding not telling your doctor about AAS use which also ties in with getting him to run panels while on cycle.

No need to apologize for anything man :)

yeah im from jersey I go to CT its a pain in the ass but gotta do what u gotta do and always do it paying cash no insurance
