Problems with TRT?

Has anyone heard of any detrimental effects to one who is on long term testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)? I have been on 100mg every week for about a year. My doctor has me come in every 6 months for blood work. I know my doctor is just looking out for my well being. However I thought if I am only bringing my test up to natural levels why all the blood work?

assuming everything is stabilized and at a good level at the year mark; I'd just ask if you can just wait a year for your next checkup. There are some good books on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), but since it hasn't been around or as widely used for nearly as long as estrogen replacement therapy for women there isn't a ton of data on long term effects; the benefits of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) are much greater for most (assuming you're noticing a difference), lipids can be slightly elevated, etc. the risk for those with prostate issues/cancer has been widely disproven although testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) still is not recommended by many if there are issues/concerns in that area.

I would certainly like to know what the risks of liver and prostate cancer are from testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)? It seems the guys on this board are using higher prescribed levels than the in the UK. The norm there is around 1 inj every 3 weeks or 1 sachet of testogel. Im surprised users are concerned with cancer given the higher doses and use of anti estrogens etc. I wonder what the life expectancy is for someone on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)? How long can you live on such treatment before developing problems?

what you have to remember is alot of these guys are self-prescribing themselves with a weekly level of exogenous test and calling it TRT. That's why you'll see doses above what is the norm (in my experience somewhere around 100mg/w depending.)

To me this is not very safe long-term, its just a justification for them not to come off the AAS and keep there size. The problem is they don't get checked usually and won't be able to tell if any problems are occuring.

I have been on doctor-prescribed Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for over 2 years now. At first he wanted to see me every 6 months, but now I am on yearly checks. I think that was just to establish where I needed to be and if any problems arose (lipids, PSA, etc.).

For someone short on testosterone (and this is shown in not just one morning bloodtest but multiple to prove there is a problem) you will definitely die faster without testosterone replacement than with it. Testosterone aids the spleen in pulling glucose out of the blood stream and pretty much makes everything work. Just like anything - if you take too much it can have negative effects. You have to understand that the body has to process the excess and it will downregulate...etc if it has to from high doses. 1 shot every 3 weeks is absurd to me. My body metabolizes a shot in under 3-5 days.
