ok seriously guys i don't think this question is as retarded as it may sound from the title , but, i know that supposedly it's good if you raise your insulin levels after lifting hard because that burns fat, but have any of you ever tried those protein shakes they make at GOLD'S gym and others like it, those shakes are fuckin loaded with sugar, i know that its necessary to have simple carbs after your workout but what is the recommended serving of sugar after a workout? do you just go for it and not care about how much sugar you're takin in or is there a limit?

Generally it's 3 or 4 to 1 ratio of simple carbs to protein.

The 30 minutes or so after a workout is the prime window for sugar to be introduced into your system.

HOWEVER, it does depend on your goals. If you are trying to lose weight, although you should still try and spike your insulin w/the sugar - you might not want to have THAT much.

But again, post-workout should mainly be simple carbs and whey protein followed by a solid food meal of protein and complex carbs approx an hour later.
