Wondering if there is any difference between doing wide grip lat pull-downs(with hands parallel to body) and narrow grip pull downs (hands perpendicular(sp) to body)
I tend to find that a wider grip allows me to work more of my lats or outer back musculature while the inner grip works more of the middle back. Your best bet is to always switch it up anyways.
I really like pullups better as well as rack pulls for building a big back I really don't think the lat pull downs do it...t bar rows are great as well
if they bother you to go behind the neck, don't do them. personally, i see no benefit to doing them that way and they bother a lot of people so just do them to the front.
Depending on whether you lean back or not and how much the exercise may require use of middle scapular muscles such as rhomboids. These muscles will be worked secondary to lats though so it is not something to worry about. Do what feels comfortable and natural.
