question on blocks for benching

can someone please explain why and how boards or blocks are used for training bench press?
thanks
useing different height boards and blocks allows you to train with heavier weight to increase lockout strength and also to work on sticking points in your bench , for example if your explosive off the bottom but stall in the middle thats a weak/sticking point . you can adjust board height to allow you to bench starting from a dead stop at that position so as to try to increase strength at that point .

Will the pins in a smith machine allow you to manipulate board presses ?
i dont like the smith machine . it doesnt allow you to use a natural groove or build the stabilizer muscles for powerlifting/benching if you cant use boards try lockouts in the squat rack adjust the safety bars down to what ever level you want to use and lay on a portable flat bench .

what? use the squat rack for something other than squats( or arm curls) :insane2:

So say Im doing lock outs do I let the bar hit the safety bars every rep ? Ching then back up, So I can also start midway using the same trick...
