Question on test and building muscle?

How high does your total test have to be to build more muscle than the average guy?Example: my total test is around 980 last time it was checked and will I grow faster and get bigger than if I had average test numbers? I just started working out again and I was wondering what I can expect as to getting bigger than the average guy.

Hello Coors,

So basically when dealing with TRT and Fitness there are going to be three main components that will maintain/build muscle aside from genetics.

Diet - Protein intake, calorie intake. If you don't eat more than you are burning you will not build muscle, if you don't consume protein the calorie surplus will not build muscle. Typically a 500 calorie surplus is a good starting point.

Exercise - If you are not training or getting sore so that you are building muscle you won't build muscle(simple enough huh?) Also, if you stop working out there won't be a need for your body to maintain the muscle mass and if you are decreasing weight/intensity your muscle mass will change to reflect this.

Testosterone - Having a total testosterone of around 1000ng/dl will definitely put you over the hormonal base of the "average guy."

So it's going to be a combination of these three things. The Testosterone would put you at an advantage over the average guy and if your diet/exercise is equal to or better than it will make your physique better as well. TRT isn't designed to focus on increasing the hormonal aspect too much as too high testosterone will affect your health in a negative way. Have balance and understand this combination and stay healthy!

Edit: Megatron is right, everybody is different. My answer is simplified and generalized I hope it will suffice!

From my experience, the answer is simply: yes you will gain a lot of muscle.

Before TRT my TT was 275. TRT brought that to about 1200. Within 2 months I gained 25% to 30% in the weight that I lifted for all my regular routine exercises. Muscles were visibly a little larger and more defined.

I am 71 yo. Gains don't come easily at that age.

Yes,
If your diet and lifting routines as well as sleep patterns are on point, you will definitely gain some muscle in the long running having an adequate testosterone level.
The averages testosterone level of a healthy male 20-40 is around 600.
Most on HRT run higher. Now you aren't going to put on slabs of muscle as if you were on cycle, but over time it will definitely make things easier.

Also while taking injectables your testosterone will remain stable unlike a normal male if he didn't sleep or during dieting when mens natural testosterone levels decline.

For me i carry 5-10 more pounds of lean muscle. Taking small doses of test wont make you alot bigger like bodybuilders using crazy amounts. They also alternate and stack different drugs.

There was an interesting study where they suppressed the normal testosterone production of healthy men then randomized them to receive one of several levels of exogenous test (including a supraphysiologic group) for like 5 months. Calorie and protein intake were controlled. As expected, there was a significant correlation between test level and lean mass, strength and power, and negative correlation between test and fat mass. So, assuming everything else is on point, it should be easier for you to make gains (although like stated previously, you shouldn't expect anything extraordinary being in a normal physiologic range).
