Hey guys looks like im going to have the rest of the month off work.. I just started a new routine about 2 weeks ago involving chest and tris on one day and back and bis on another.. my question is

would it be ok to go do tris earlier in the day and then go back later for my chest?

i feel like im spending too long in the gym trying to complete my workout and get too tired to really hit my secondary muscles good.

Sure you could! But why? After I workout chest "it takes me 40-45min", because your working chest your secondary muscle is tri-ceps and they get punished! so after chest I do about 7/9 sets and I work faster on tri's maybe take me another 20-25min so in total I'm there for an hour and 15min max! but on shoulder it takes me 30min I don't nail them as much now due to some serious pains in my joints!

Just get it done in one seshion I could not be bothered going twice in one day! I have to much to do! But if you really want to then go for it?

if you want to do two a days i take it your trying to do chest for around an hour or so in the morning and then tris take you an hour later? that's two hours in a day, doesn't matter if it's at one time or not, too much. your tris are getting hit hard with chest as long as you're doing heavy compound movements such as barbell bench or dumbbell press, obviously not flies. i focus the majority of my chest/tri days on chest, going heavy and intense, usually takes a good 30 minutes. now my tris are pre exhausted and for example today i just did dips for triceps, which is a great assistance exercise for bench. i don't know where you are at in your training or what your goals are, but unless you are a bodybuilder pre contest tricep kickbacks and the like are fucking dumb. stick to heavy dips and high rep pushdowns. shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes or so on a few sets of weighted dips. i would stear clear of two a days, especially if lifting is not your job and you only have a month off to where you will have to quit this two a day program when you go back to work or seriously be worn out, just my .02

I think it would be some what counter productive going in thier hitting chest then coming back and hitting tris. simply because the triceps are one of the secondary muscles in a pushing movment. So basically ur hitting them when ur hitting chest - no shit . u only need to b training at a high intensity for 45 minutes max. This is how i would do it smash chest for 30 minutes now the triceps are a relativly small muscle thier for they dont need as much stimulation as ur chest for example . Also taking into a count uve just hit ur triceps whilst training chest . End ur workout with 2-3 tricep exersises i would recomend one being CG bench aswell as dips if u can do them without irratating ur shoulders also a great exercise for inner chest development .

I dont read all the comments . im sure im just repeating myself . just saying

dips used to irritate my shoulders when i did them weighted, my triceps could handle all that weight just fine but it hurt the hell out of my shoulders. i dropped back down to bodyweight and di high reps, also started working shoulders more and it helped, now i can dip heavy weights no problem at all
