Quiz.....

Detroit needs some more Canadians (or atleast American's) on their team if they are going to make it deep in the playoffs.

You can only get so far with a bunch of pansy European's and a couple Russians.

San Jose, Dallas, Colorado, Minnesota, Anaheim, Calgary, and even Nashville will all be able to beat on Detroit. They lack toughness and signing Darrenn McCarty at the end of the year isn't going to solve all their problems.

Detroit has the second most goals in the NHL (behind the Canadiens) and they gave up almost 40 less goals. They have a scary goaltending duo and that is usually what wins championships. We will see though.

I would like to see Joe Thornton get into the finals....just another jab at the Bruins if he does. I am a Bruins fan but still giggle when one of their stupid decisions come back to haunt them.

Who was in Detroit's division?

Nashville barely squeaked into the playoffs and the other three teams

Eastern Conference Standings.
Chicago (10)
Columbus (13)
Nashville (8)
St. Louis (14)

League Standings (30 teams)
Detroit (1)
Nashville (17)
Chicago (20)
Columbus (25)
St. Louis (27)

When you are Detroit and you play in the worst division in the NHL you better score a lot of goals

Atlantic Division
Pittsburgh
New Jersey
NY Rangers
Philly
They all made the playoffs and the NY Islanders finished (13) in the conference.. not a chance.

Put the Pens, ducks, Stars, Sharks, Canadians, etc in the Central Division and I bet they also finish first overall and score more goals.

Yeah the Central Division was weak but they won some games against the powerhouses of the NHL. But can they do it in a best of 7 series? Like the Yankees I will never count the Wings out.
I will say if Crosby and Malkin stay healthy then Pitt could go far.

The Pens made some good moves at the trade deadline.

Hossa: I never really watched him play much until he was traded to the Pens. He always put himself into a good scoring poistion, seems to be in the right place at the right time. He also back checks very well which isn't something I expected from a sniper. I really hope they can resign him in the off season. Give him and Sid a year together and they will be sick.

Gill: He isn't flashy, but he may be the shut down defensemen they needed. He's big and knows what his role is.

Dupuis: I know he wasn't a target for the Pens to pick up and he came in the Hossa package, but he is quick and makes the Sid-Hossa-Dupuis line tough to play against.

Gill always had a good +/- with the Bruins but he was soft...never seem to really use his size. He did give Lindros one of his concussions though.

Hossa is solid...would have liked to have seen him with the B's but they would have had to give up too much. Instead we stayed status quo and it shows. I was at Hossa's first game which was against Boston...he played like 2 shifts and left hurt and was out for a handful of games. Boston lit them up 5-1 that night....of course Crosby was still out hurt.

I miss the Center Ice package...used to love watching Hockey Night in Canada on CBC.

I have the NHL pack on TV and it is sick! I used to only get the Toronto, Montreal, and Detroit games.

Now I can watch any game on any night.

I love it.

What was the topic of discussion on this thread?

I thought it was about the America Cup too which I was going to say EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND would be my choice however I think they are talking about those cats that skate on ice with curved sticks.
