Rack Lockouts

how do you guys incorporate these into your training? do you do them instead of full-range bench on a given day? i had never done them before a few weeks ago, but tried them recently. i just like being able to move a lot more weight than you normally do. i put up around 450 normally, but was locking out with close to 600 lbs. its nice to just feel that kind of weight on the bar. i'm all for any suggestions on how to incorporate these.

um... my fault, i should specify. i'm not a bodybuilder, i'm an off-season football player. so i don't have specific bodypart days. i've been doing basically a westside type program the last several months.

On Westside I am not aware of a triceps movement ever replacing a full press movement. I am really only familiar though with ME days and speed movement days.

For a heavy, full triceps movement I am back to doing CG benches. Dumbell overhead presses are limited by weight (my gym goes up to 150 which works ok) but also the range of restriction bothers my elbows somethin' fierce without lots of warmups.

I'm sure one of the PLers will comment for ya.

normally racks are for lockout strength on the bench. its really geard more for shirted benchers but hits the tri's hard. just do them on bench day alond with normal benching you do. if you gotta stickin point in you bench set the pins up at that height and work from there to strengthen the week part of you bench.

btw nice numbers.

pullinbig: yeah i'd heard of guys using them to overcome specific sticking points. i can't say i go heavy often enough on bench to really know what my sticking point is. i was trying them out because i heard it was a great way to bring up your tris. how often do you include these in your program?

jcp2: thanks that what i was curious about. i had been doing them instead of ME bench. on my next ME day, i'll try using them after regular ME bench.
