scolio and weightlifting

Scoliosis can be caused by a traumatic injury but the injury would be far too severe to be caused by training in most circumstances.

I have a friend who is a long distance runner and he claims his scoliosis is caused from the constant pounding on the pavement from running. He probably already had some scoliosis and it just got worse over time.

Not sure there is any truth to running causing spinal irregularity like that, but if it is true then he should probably be seeing a chiro like the heavy lifters do. Correct the spine, get it back in shape. Curvature of the spine ends up creating one side of the body being a bit stronger than the other, perhaps larger, and so on.

Since we're on the subject of scoliosis, I think I may have it but not sure.
I always got tested in grade school in gym class and I was always fine. I'm gonna post a pic to see if anyone might be able to tell me for sure...

It looks like scoliosis.

venom i have scoliosis because one leg is slightly longer than the other. i am older so the longer leg has some vericose veins that i am getting removed. dr thinks there is more stress on that leg causing this. check your legs and see if your knees line up together.

the thing is...I think I have a scolio..but when my legs are measured..they are equal and I can touch my toe with..not just my fingers..but with my entire flat palm without back pain or restriction..it's really weird. will post pic of my back.

venom: it is a scolio. had it therapied already

Well thats not cool. Aboot says above that usually a major trauma occurs for one to get scoliosis. I haven't had any major trauma, all I do is lift weights. Is it important to get this fixed? And how would I go about it, seeing a chiropractor? Sorry to hijack the thread.

same here bro! no major trauma...just lifting..weird huh?

I'm still alotting my time to get mine fixed. though sadly..I can't seem so..x.x

it doens't seem to be affecting my lifts..but better be sure than sorry.

yeah..continuous chiro sessions would help..iirc, he'd give you some kind of stretches and exercises for ya to do ...

no prob at the hijacking bro!
