Shrugs not on shoulder day?

If I do shrugs on shoulder day, do they develop better than if I did shrugs the next day with biceps and calves?

Shoulder day is just too full with triceps after shoulders.

Thanks. Just wondering what you think.

Cool, thats what I thought, but all the videos of mr olympia guys all train traps with shoulders. I guess it doesnt matter though.

Do them with biceps. It just might make you a little stronger with your bicep workout, too.

Thats what I was thinking too. My traps wont be tired at all from shoulder work, so they will be able to lift more on bicep day.

Thanks guys.

Well, that and it can make your biceps stronger.

hows that work?

It has to do with the muscles around the C-5 and C-6 aligning these vertebrae properly so that the nerves that supplies the biceps are free from any obstruction. Doing some neck extension exercises can help with this as well.

only you can answer this question....what works for one doesnt necessarily work for another....try every combination, and decide for yourself what works best

got any proof..I have never heard this explanation before?

Charles Poliquin has done some studying with his atheletes and found a high correlation between biceps strength and neck extensor strength.

If you want to see if it works for you, you could do a neck extensor exercise between bicep sets. Compare it to previous workouts and see if it makes a difference.

I like working my traps with Back.

Yup... the traps are a back muscle... they start on the top of your shoulders and shoot down your back.. makes sense to work them on back day.

Back day is also full enough. I do traps on bicep day. I just gotta use straps because biceps tires your grip.

I found that when i trained traps with back that i was no giving them enough attention. Now with shoulders i train them as there own group. I used to just slap on some shrugs after a couple sets of back.

That is usually because the last thing you want to do after deadlifting and doing bent rows is throw around 500lb shrugs. Shoulder workouts are much less taxing, so you have more in the tank when you get to shrugs.

I can see that... I do a lower volume routine, with more frequency... so I can get my 3 sets of Barbell Shrugs in and get a good workout from it (after my main back mover).

I usually dont do any direct work for my traps really....i only do three sets of heavy ass shrugs on shoulder day as my back gets nuked from deads as well as the traps./....
