egative Impact on Muscles

Despite popular belief, smoking does have a serious impact on the muscles of the body. These negative effects include the deterioration of existing muscles and the inability to build new, healthy muscles.

Smoking Inhibits the Growth of Muscles
The toxins absorbed into the body by smokers prevent oxygen from entering the blood stream. This lack of oxygen impacts not only the heart and lungs, but the ability of the body to build muscle as well. Smoking also prevents the body from creating essential muscle proteins, slowing the growth rate of muscles by approximately 25 percent.

Smoking Destroys Existing Muscles
Individuals who smoke have also been found to have increased levels of myostatin. Myostatin is a chemical that prevents muscles from growing and, over time, also works to break down existing muscle. All muscles can be impacted by high myostatin levels but the muscles most commonly impacted are those in the thighs. Imagine spending your life smoking only to eventually lose the ability to walk because of muscle deterioration.

it stops oxyen to the muscles..no oxyen no big muscles
