Soreness

The day after a chest day, I'm not very sore but the day after that, I can barely move my arms back. Why is it that I'm not as sore the day AFTER workingout, but 2days after? I did not do anything strenuous or out of the ordinary the day after the workout.
 
It usually takes about 2 days for the soreness to kick in. The day after squats I am fine it's two days later that I am sometimes so sore that it hurts to move.
 
Oh no wonder. It's weird cuz either I feel the soreness 2days later or I feel it the day after and then it just goes away quickly. It differs for different body parts for me.

The correct term is DOMS - Delayed Onset Mucle Soreness. The sorness normally sets in 24-48 hours following an intense training session, perfectly normal.
 
All getting sore means is that you got sore. It doesn't mean your workout will produce growth.

People that constantly strive to be sore, and use soreness as an indicator of an effective workout tend to be people that get the WORST results. Soreness is neither good nor bad and sometimes it will happen, and other times it will not. An ever increasing weight on the bar should be your barometer of success, not if you got "pumped" or sore.

i always thought that if you got a good workout it would affect the muscle, resulting in soreness. and if you didn't get sore that maybe you weren't using enough weight?

most people use too much weight and horrible form
or tey go way too light and dont work hard enough
 
so i basically get sore literally almost every workout (to some extent), but my strength goes up almost every week on lifts. so is this soreness good or bad? and by the way, i only work each body part once a week
 
i get sore all the time.if i dont get sore i dont worry though.i'm still mwaiting for the time when i dont get sore.you know like those dumbshits that come to the gym in janurary and say i cant wait in acouple more weeks i wont get sore anymore.can yall tell me when those weeks get here cause i aint seen em.
