Steroids, acne and accutane

Hello everyone, I have been experiencing severe nodular and cystic acne on my chest, shoulders and back. It is very bad and painful, to the point where I bleed everywhere everyday. It is terrible, and every synonym of horrible explains it. My life is a living hell because of it. Everything I do, I feel pain.

So let's get to the point. I am very very prone to acne. I had a lot of acne before going on AAS, however I could say it was mild.

I ran several blasts, and I was fine. Until I decided to go over a gram on test. In 50days span, I developed the worst acne ever. I dropped the compounds and went on a cruise.

I ordered some accutane online and i started with my first dose today at 20mg.

I am wondering... what doses should I take until my acne clears up? I know accutane is dosed at 0.5mg-2mg/kg. However, I am not interested in doing high doses of accutane for 6months, for reasons that I love my liver. I know accutane modifies the DNA and that the reason accutane is so effective, is that after the discontinuation of the drug, small amounts of retinoids remain on the cells which prevent acne from coming back.

Since I will keep using steroids, I am better off using as low of a dose as possible and to maintain on a very low dose, because oil glands will open up again.

I will remain on a cruise until i clear up... however, once back on blast with androgens, what dose do you suggest me to use as maintenance to keep away from acne breakouts?

I was guessing 6-8weeks, or at least till I clear up on the acne. And than maintain 10mg. I don't take any oral steroids anyways.

I went up to 80mg/day. 40mg 2xday. the package information says that if your acne is on the trunk of your body you will need a higher dose.

take NAC at least 1200mg day. I did and my liver was fine. lipids were fine.

4 months was all i could take but that was enough. acne is gone.

the long duration low dose (IMO) is for those who do not have acne like you are explaining. I tried it and it did not work.

my unprofessional advice would be to take a bigger dose and let it deal with the acne. 20mg is nothing. Accutane works but that dose it too small.
. sounds like you have a severe case. you need a severe remedy. or a dermatologist.

I do not use a maintenance dose. I wish to never ever fucking touch Accutane again.

Is it just me or when one question about accutane came up 5 others followed in the last couple days. From everything I heard accutane isn't worth the sides but do as you will.

My derm told me that 98% of people who use accutane never need to use it again and the acne is cured. I guess there's a chance that it can come back but it's not too likely.

when acne is as bad as th OP is talking.. yes Accutane is one of if not the only choice.
Getti g the bodies hormones especially estrogen is also paramount.

anyone who has never had acne that bad has no clue how painful it is and how mentally devastating it can be. these are usually the people claiming b5, zinc and some OTC acne soap will work.. . they will not when acne gets this far.

I hear u but in all fairness, would u be on over a gram of test amongst other compounds for over 5 months with no ai? Not to mention only being 19???

Go read through the posts yourself. He had an acne problem before using gear. Yea, I feel bad but quit touching the stove when its hot. You'll get burned every time...

Never had acne issues before what what I suggest is constant washing and accutane. Then just wait man. Maybe lower your test or get an ai. Estrogen can cause acne breakouts. I mean thats the main cause for acne on aas. Oily skin and estrogen. Even otc like dim can reduce "floaties"

lots of bad advise in this thread.

take 20mg ed for 2 months,3rd month 30mg ed.4th month finish at 20mg,total run 4 months.If its not cleared in 4 months do one more month,5 total,no more.

taking nac and liver support help.I'd check liver values at 3 months.

Best advise I can give you while on tane is to drink 1.5 gallons of water everyday.
