Supersets - which better?

Supersets for the same muscle, or supersets done for opposing muscles ie biceps/triceps, what's the difference in gains?

Opposing muscles, I do them to save time.

If you do them on the smae muscle, thye will tax your CNS while hurting your gains.

I don't do them at all. I lift heavy/hard and so if I try to do arms for example the pump in the triceps makes it almost impossible to do any bicep work. I think they are meant for people doing toning and defenition more then people trying to put on mass.

It's just that I suspect that there's potential to shock the muscles into growth by doing compound sets for the same muscle. Supersetting opposing muscles might be more to save time or to cut up.

I've done both and both are great to throw in as a chocker to the muscle every few months.

In order to cause the most microtrauma, you want to hit your muscles with the most weight possible. Doing back to back sets for the same muscle will work your CNS a lot more than it will work said muscle group.
