Surprised at todays result

Long time reader/ first time poster. I would like to start by Thanking all of you for the amazing resource that you provide here. I have been reading this forum for a long time.

I have been suffering all the symptoms of Low Testosterone for about 3 years now but as someone who was 80lbs overweight, I wanted to dry to address it naturally.

I have been following a super clean diet and hitting the gym 3 times a week with a personal trainer 3 times a week for a couple of years and having lost the weight, I thought I would go to a Toronto Doctor last year for a blood test. My results for Testosterone came back as 14 nmol in a range of 9-28. I thought it was on the low side for a 36 year old male but my Doctor refused to look further as it was within range.
I have been watching the diet and exercise and kept the weight off. I eat a clean low carb diet and dropped alcohol out of it last year. My symptoms are no better and possibly worse do I found out a Naturopathic Doctor to get a full blood work done to see if I had made any difference. Thyroid, Vitamins, and all other stuff came back mid range except Testosterone with was 32.9 pmol/L in a range of 31-94. I'm now 37 and showing the same symptoms. The Naturopath actually looked at the results and recommended Androgel for treatment. She even called and booked me an appointment for a Medical Doctor and has written a note to take along.
I have to wait several weeks for an opening and started researching Toronto Clinics where I might be able to see someone more specialized and found one that could take me within a couple of days.

Today I went for the appointment and when I walked in, I was met by a wellness councillor who asked for a drivers licence and credit card. After lightening me of over $300 I was given an intake form that did not ask much about any symptoms other than ED. I was taken to a room where the Wellness Councillor informed me that he new my ND as they were in the same class and he only did this part time. He looked at my bloodwork copy I had brought with me that was taken 10 days prior and agreed that my Testosterone was low. The Doctor then came in and asked how my libido is and did I sleep well last night. I informed him that I do not have ED, I do have low libido along with other symptoms but when I do occasionally have sex, my dick works fine. He asked again how I slept last night, I said it was restless and I kept waking but that is not always the case. He asked if I snore, I said no.
He said the Testosterone levels are fine, I should have a sleep apnea test and take a Cialis prescription. I pointed out that my Dick works and I usually sleep OK without snoring. He said if I don't want to take the sleep test and Cialis, I should go and get the blood work repeated and come back in 3 or 4 weeks after his vacation.
All in all, I feel I should have saved time and mailed him some cash. I was then sent into a room and the wellness councillor came back in. He asked how it went, I said I didn't think the Doctor listened and didn't ask me any symptom questions. I asked him for his thoughts and he said he thought I have Low T and could I wait while he talked to the Doctor. The Doctor opened the door and said "I told you to take a sleep test, you don't want a sleep test or Cialis, make an appointment to come back in 4 weeks"

I guess that's me done there and a lesson learned. I will now just wait for my other appointment. That will teach me to jump the gun.

I'm just putting this out there as an experience and warning to others to research carefully where they go for Health Care.

How did i know. (Sarcasm)
Please tell me your exact diet. We can start there

My normal diet doesn't have a huge variation- it's along the lines of

Breakfast- Protein Shake or Apple and a handful of nuts

Lunch- leftover from previous dinner

Snacks- normally I have a Baggie of broccoli and cauliflower or a small bowl or blueberries or pineapple

Dinner- this is almost always a salad, normally lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and a little goats cheese. The variations may include some walnuts or strawberries or possibly asparagus. Once a week I have ribeye, the other nights are usually chicken or salmon.

I've recently been cutting back on the nuts and cheese as I am trying to monitor calorie creep. I very rarely drink alcohol and if I do, it's a glass of red.

I've lost a lot of weight but still have huge love handles. I have not taken any supplements.

I drink about 4 litres of water a day. I drive a fair bit hence the food is bland as I have little prep time. I train dogs for a living and when not driving am active.

Sorry to hear about your experience, I do not have any experience with doctors in Canada but it sounds like you are at the mercy of the healthcare system up there and doctors who use that to take advantage of desperate people. There are several guys on here that live in Canada and might be able to give you names of good doctors to see.

Best of luck!

Please also post lab results. Ill comment on diet after I get blood results.
I'm not a doc but I stayed at a motel 6 last night

I have made another appointment for another Anti aging Doctor up here in Canada for next week. Is there any key points I should highlight to get the TRT?

Are you set on trt? You are not eating a testosterone friendly diet. How long have you been working out twice a week for. You need to get more bloods. Your estrogen is still high. Doctors want to take your money and keep you dependent on their drugs. I like drugs I don't like being dependent. After you fix your estrogen I will give you paypal so you can send me some of that money I saved you lol

F.ing doctors. Ofcourse they don't check your estrogen haha. And people say Canadian health care is better ok I need to stop before this becomes an official rant

Thx for the advice- working out for the past 3 years almost. Any recommendations of how to bring the estrogen down?
Just figured the "feeling like crap" was Test based- also what my ND thought.

I'm glad my mechanic doesn't offer free care like my Doctor-
"I need an oil change"
"Park over there and I'll check the tire pressure in February"

If I don't need trt, I might jump over to the other area of the forum ;)

Hold on there neighbour! Wait until a few of the vets chime in before you give up. :-)

It's usually not to hard to know if you need TRT. Can you post your Total Test numbers. TT numbers should be in nmol/L and normal is usually between 6.7 and 28.9 depending on the lab. Most on this forum use the American numbers which are in ng/dl. You can convert here
Testosterone ng/dL nmol/L Unit Conversion -- EndMemo

And...., seriously...., wait until someone with some experience tries to help you. Understand what I'm saying?? ;-)

Your asking too many questions. You say you are a long time reader then you ask how to reduce estrogen. This is a perfect example of giving someone an inch and they want to take a mile. You want me to spoon feed you you need to feed me. That means send me money or use that thing they invented yesterday called google.

So you worked out 3 years in 37 and now you want a magic bullet. Rofl
I doubt many people will respond to your post because they are not interested in another one of these lame threads. I have other words for you but this is the internet so I'll just wish you luck with your love handles is it still called the manzere lol

I guess it's only a matter of time before you are banned again. lol

I don't think I broke any rules I merely told
the guy to read. Something he said he does a lot of.

I am not claiming to be an expert. I am far from it. In fact, the ban you are referring to was because I was talking about being on trt at 28 (Could have been a mistake but maybe not) and I was told that I was stupid for that.

Now I am giving our compadre the same tough love mods showed me in the past. You act like he won't get told to read more by vets lol

I will say this I am not here to argue and put anyone down so I will apologize for any of that. However, how many post are there that tell how to lower estrogen.

Maybe I'll get banned lol. It will be a great story to tell around the campfire roasting marshmellos at my Boy Scout meeting

So we've established your Testosterone is low, now we need to figure out why.

Sleep apnea could be a possibility if you haven't tested for it.
As fat as thyroid labs are concerned can you post them so we csn see if you got a complete panel. TSH is not a good indicator of thyroid function.

Your Vitamin D is low. Increasing this hu supplementing 5-10k a day will get this up which will increase your free T.
Your diet seems to be lacking protein as well.

Have you had an MRI?

TSH 1.61 (0.35-5)

This equates to about 400ng/dL - numbers I am more familiar with. For the blood test results I have seen, anything over 250 is considered in the normal range, with 350 seeming to be what most people who are 45ish have (this info was gathered from the four people I know who have had tests done - all were about 350 and all were around 45 years old). Some doctors will still treat at around 250 (in the US), but at 400 most will not. There are online doctors you can find who will work with you and write you scripts to get TRT started if you want it to improve your life, but your levels seem to be normal for your age. Most likely your problem lies somewhere else, but I would wait for the big guns to chime in, I have only been on TRT for four months.

My T level was 153, which is slightly over 5nmol/L and I had to try two different doctors before anyone would start TRT with me...

Estrogen effects test. Go immediately to get your estrogen checked. We can do that in US without a doc.

You're right on that. I was at 180 ng/dl TT with 40 pg/ml estradiol (regular panel).
Took 0.25 mg adex dose and did blood work 24 hours later with results:
TT: 316 ng/dl
Estradiol (regular panel): 16 pg/ml

See how fast adex works?
These 2 blood labs were done in the same week!
Wednesday and Friday. The adex was taken on Thursday.
