swimming for cardio

increases overall cardiovascular health as well as burns a significant number of calories if you want to reduce your bodyfat. the problem is, that when you get down to 13-15% bodyfat, swimming is a hinderance, as swmming in water signifactly lower than your body temperature has the tendancy to bring a mild onset of hypothermia which prompts the body to put on a thin layer of bodyfat over the muscle tissue (several studies out there support this)
.

i have found this on the internet. Has anybody heard of this or is it just BS?

i would imagine the effect is pretty negligible. Are people in warm weather always skinnier?

I was pretty cut when i used to swim, and i think it is easier to burn more calories without overtraining any joints or muscles because it uses the entire body, not just legs like running.

Swimming will get the muscles in a way that weights cant, I believe that swimming is a great workout, try swimming 10 laps in a good pool and see if your not sore lol.

I love swimming as it's great cardio but it's much more refreshing than running or cycling. I'd say cycling is my second favorite cardio. As far as the hypothermia thing, most pools are around 86 degrees or so. The water isn't cold at all and I never shiver especially when the air is warmer.
