urologist put me on 200 ml cyp once every three weeks...first shot was today...now,ive been doing a lot of reading on the subject and it seems the general feeling is thats not enough.im 46 with "subnormal" t levels...libido is low...no drive..listless...moody..so i figured i'd go this route...in decent shape...diet good...decent muscularity and bulk...but never feel exactly 'right"...if that makes sense...
anyhow,im going back to see him in 2 months...so by then i will have had about 4 or 5 shots...but after what ive read im thinking..should i shoot once every 2 weeks instead of 3...or just wait until i see him again?i didnt mention it to him cuz he could tell i lifted and i didnt want to seem like im in there trying to get "juiced' so to speak..but i want to be at a level where i feel good..like i did 20 years ago..i know its not a magic serum and shit..and thats theres probably a lot of trial and error with dosing...anyhow,any input/experiences are appreciated

Really, a shot every week at minimum. If you can't convince him to up to at least 100mg weekly as a starting dose I would reconsider the whole thing, at least with this doctor. By "subnormal", I assume you mean not as high as you'd like but not clinically low? Well a few months in when you're fully suppressed and 3 weeks have gone by you may very well be clinically low and worse off than you are now.

It sounds like it will be an uphill battle trying to get your doctor to make you happy.

"sub normal" was his term, not mine. my blood was tested by my GP and she didnt want to do anything and referred me to this urologist...the first visit didnt go too well..he seemed skeptical and offered me Levitra and whatnot(cuz i had mentioned my low libido, among other reasons for wanting the test)...but he took more blood and told me to return and when i did he said it was low but not super low but offered the shots anyway.
i have 3 refills in addition to the bottle i just started so i COULD up the dose...but when time comes for more he will be like howd you go through that so fast?lol...
being new to this,i didnt wasnt to seem presumptious and tell him how i feel i should be taking more...i was just happy he relented and put me on it...maybe after my next visit if i dont feel anything i can convince him to up it....but damn i hate to waste 2 months...i was really looking forward to the experience...and upping my quality of life

You wouldn't up the dosage, you'd just spread out the same dose over more frequent injections.
i.e. if you're doing 200mg e3w, break it down into 66mg shots every week.
I went from 200mg every 2 weeks to injecting twice weekly @ 50mg/ea and feel better doing it that way. Strength and mood are more consistent now.
Same dose, more stable peaks and troughs.

Are you self injecting?

To get that quality of life back is 2 fold. You want to minimize the "swings" you'll inevitably experience as well as restoring your T to optimal levels.

makes sense...did you make the change on your own or after discussing it with your doctor?
he showed me yesterday how to inject,so here on out i'll be doing it myself.
im just wondering why he chose every three weeks instead of every two, which seems to be more common...

He's probably familiar only with some ancient protocol.

I discussed the frequency of injections with my doc. He basically said he didn't care. If I was OK with more pinning it was fine with him. Only risk over long time is more scar tissue potential. So try to rotate more than 2 spots. I use my delts and quads.

Some docs do cares though. So you need to make the judgement call about yours. How good is your relationship with him? Does he listen and is he flexible?

Get a new doctor. 100mg/week minimum.

I had to go through 4 different endo's before finding one that would let me self-inject.
As far as my endo knows, I still inject once every 2 weeks. There is no way he can complain because it's the same dose and I pay out of pocket for pins. There's no way for him to know any different.

My job has me traveling and I can't predict when I'll be on the road with any degree of accuracy.
This is a much better way for me to manage my levels.
Before with 200mg/e2w my total test levels would go from over 1100ng/dl to 200, every 2 weeks.
The roller coaster that shit was putting me through was not fun to say the least.

This is below normal dosage i would say. Most dosages for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) are 150-250mgs, and once weekly or once every two weeks. I would just wait till i see him the next time and just say really i don not feel a difference. Then he will adjust your dosage. Like yousaid, dont sound like you wanna be juiced.

You do have to kinda play the game with the doc, let him see what is or isn't working and don't be shy about telling him you don't feel like its working well. If he isn't looking at peak level (day after injection) and trough (day before) to see how bad his protocol is, then find a new one... Some doctors just shouldn't be playing the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) game because they really have no clue what they're doing. Be patient and ride it out, this is a trial and error system to a certain degree to see what works best for you.

my relationship with the doc?well, hes a urologist(would an endo be better?or maybe it depends on the doctor and his philosophy..)..and he was a referral who ive only seen three times..first visit(blood taken) he didnt seem like he would work with me..second visit..looked over my results..told me we could try shots...third visit yesterday(first injection)...so i guess i havent really established a "relationship" per se....we did joke about ball players abusing PEDS...and one time he pointed to the bottle of T and said thats the most "potent stuff in the universe"...i figured that was his sly way of telling me not to abuse it...or maybe he just likes to say shit like that,i dunno.
it DOES seem like its gonna be a trial and error thing...ive seen different accounts..some guys seem to do well with every third week...but most say thats no good.
im not scheduled to see the guy for 2 months, but i suppose i could play "by the book" for the next shot or two and then call him and tell him im not noticing anything and maybe could i come in earlier to see him.
but i appreciate all of the input and aid here..and hopefully ill eventually get on the right program.
i didnt really feel any different today..didnt expect to...maybe a little more stamina in the gym but im pretty sure that was psychological...hoping to feel something eventually...

well, its my third week..time for another shot..havent really noticed any changes thusfar..except i seem to be sleeping deeper, which is great since ive had sleep issues for a long time.
not a huge change in libido but i notice a definite improvement.
the tendinitis in my left arm ive been dealing with since April seems much better..tho i doubt its related lol
i DID have a migraine a few days after the first shot..first one ive ever had..but im not sure if thats related, either.
a small improvement in "sense of well being".
of course, some of this could be psychological..after all,ive only had one shot.
still optimistic its gonna be a good experience in the long run, though.
