Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and fertility?

Porkchop, thanks a lot for the input. Really.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm in despair with this as I suspect I didn't even need testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in the first place. The knowledge on this in the UK is rock bottom. I am even considering making a complaint. No attempt was made to identify primary or secondary with me, only my testosterone levels were checked and not all the other hormones (LH, FSH, estrogen etc). I was just put on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), nobody even told me it effected fertility, I knew no better at the time...

I am on gels, Two years at least now. Testogel (which is the same as androgel I believe) one per day at the minute, though my script covers two per day, I'm just using one until I figure out what to do.

Kids are the priority at the minute. So the best option for fertility is what I want. I'm a little confused tho, can you look at the below options and suggest what you think is best if fertility is the key concern...

1. testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) (gels) + Clomid together? 25-50mg each day with the gel?

2. Would Clomid by itself, 25-50mg each day, be better if fertility is the priority?

3. How about just testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and HCG 250IU x2 per week and retest my sperm in a few months?

Thanks!

No prob, Glad I could help.

but i still rec #1 because its healthier. then option 2 as next step if needed.
if you are not sure about test levels or issues you may see if you can recover and get test levels checked. keep in mind your going to prob feel crappy for a while though, if you even recover (for all you know you did still need hrt)

also Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) only Mimic's and stimulates the testies. but they are in some ways/area still shut down even with Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) because there is not the full process Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is covering. i would rec both clomid and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) if you use Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) for fertility.

GOOD LUCK!

Time for an update I think...

I came off testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in November, went cold turkey and felt pretty terrible for a few months.

My urologist finally put me on Clomid 50mgs a day - I thought the dose was high - I have been taking 25mgs a day for 4-5 weeks now.

Mood and well being is good, libido could be better, but kids are the goal and sex is OK once I get started...

Here are my bloods (afternoon) after 4-5 weeks of this dose.

Test - 16.7 nmol/L
Prolactin - 211 mU/L
oestradiol - 84 pmol/L
LH - 6.3 U/L
FSH 3.4 U/L

As far as I can tell, these numbers are all within range and I plan to continue at 25mgs a day. I would prefer better libido if anyone has any advice? Otherwise, any feedback on this would be appreciated... thanks.

im on Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and trying to fix it. But right now my fertility is gone. Not that its completely gone probably 1-2 steps up from worst case scenario. There are things that can help, but that is a risk of TRT>

Did you lose fertility while on test and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) or just by using test alone?
