TRT issues that can arise down the road........

Reading all these threads in the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) section about each individual's testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) experience with their doc has me thinking....
TRT patients are basically at the mercy of their doctor(s) and I'll tell you why. Let's say you have a good testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) doc you see and is Liberal with the dose that you feel is working for you and that you are comfortable at. Doc's aren't around forever...they are human too. Someday they will retire...who takes their place after?
Will the new doc you find be easy to work with or will they be really controlling of the dose and how they give it out???

I don't know if any of you are being charged a fee at the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinics you go to, but let's say you can't find a testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) clinic that is affordable to you...I've heard some cost from $1000 annually maybe more in some areas. Someone might have a good deal where they are at for their testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and the doc could retire...
Means you have to take your case, elsewhere....

I went into a hospital once for a repeat and the doc looked at me...looked at my body and said: "you workout" ? "I'm not prescribing you anything"....
told him my T was low...he didn't want to hear it....
Not many people understand what living with Low T is like....
Just wanted to hear some of your thoughts and feedback....

That doc was in Europe b.t.w..
I had to stay longer than planned over there and walked in to a hospital and the doc basically was giving me dirty looks.
Pharmacists were looking at me strange too.
There is a lot of stigma on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) patients...
and if your physique is well maintained, you are middle age (forget younger)....
you are guaranteed disappointing news if seeking T prescriptions...
I know my family doc could see me crawling and dieing and he will not prescribe anything....
LOW T on labs as well. He will tell you to "not eat bread...lose weight....it's all in your control to raise your Testosterone"

I guess if worse came to worse I would self medicate and run labs every few months to monitor.

I'm with you...
but you can't compare pure grade pharmaceutical T to an UGL lab....(if we are speaking in worst case scenario terms)
I'm sure there are great UGL's out there...but a Pharmaceutical company is at the top in terms of potency, quality, consistency.

I agree, but it is better than nothing!

I'm not worried about that one bit. Let me tell you why: Doctors are lazy. I know you have dealt with some crazy crap lately Apollon, but honestly most docs just look at what you're currently on and continue on with that list, seldom making any changes unless you ask them to look at it. I feel that it is possible to bring poor experiences upon yourself by going about things in a less than productive manner, but there is always an option B, C, D, E - etc.

Besides, given the media coverage lately with low-T and the fact that the medical community is finally waking up to the fact that there are frankly so many of us that are hypogonadal, it'll only be a matter of time before it's as easy for us as it is for women that have gone through menopause to get on HRT.

Stick with your injects man, you'll feel much better and have less to worry about very soon - I promise. ;)

thanks...
Years ago no one knew anything about Sleep Apnea as well...and that has become a widespread epidemic as well....
Wait till insurance companies and socialized healthcare goes bankrupt with all these new medical findings....how much can they afford to treat?
as I understand it they cover the $750 and change (basic machine)

Wow, here in Australia there is no media coverage about TRT. Its like a taboo subject. I even mentioned it on an Australia Body building forum and people laughed at me..Idiots.

I thought Australia was one of the world leaders in medical advancement, but low t is not an issue discussed here. hope we catch up with you guys soon.

After explaining my experience to alot of my friends, they have now rushed off to get their levels tested.

However, i do not feel at the mercy of my DR. Like you said.. there is always option B.C.D etc.

thanks...

You don't get insurance and health care do you? For an insurance company to shell out less than $1000 for a cure to sleep apnea is nothing. Or pay less than $1000 a year for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is nothing. That "investment" in better health far outweighs the cost of future complications if nothing is done. And the person will also likely die earlier thus allowing them to collect less in premiums. These investments in better health will not bankrupt the country with health care costs. Contrarily, it will reduce costs in the long run. Preventive medicine is a whole lot cheaper than dealing with the problem when it advances and becomes an emergency.

In the US, most of the costs that an insurance company shells out come at the end of one's life. All the amazing things that can be done to extend one's life a little bit longer cost a lot of money. On average, something like 90% of all medical costs are paid out at the very end of one's life.
