TRT & SSRI..anyone sex drive problems?

Anyone on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) (HRT) and also taking a SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) and experiencing sex drive problems from the antidepressant?

Am I alone on this? I'm taking 125 mg's of Test Enanthate weekly along with Lexapro. Lexapro is the newer version of Celexa, which is suppose to have less side effects.

What can I do to alleviate the antidepressants negative sexual effect? Decrease the SSRI by 50%, increase the Test dose, or what? I'd hate to increase the Test dose, because then I would have to worry about Test related side effects and it wouldn't even be testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), it would be like being ON.

Advice needed from those with steroid/antidepressant experience.

I have talked to people about SSRI's but never tried them. My brother is on them. He has tried most. According to him, they all cause loss in libido.

Wellbutrin is supposed to have significantly less sexual sides...... May want to look into it bro.

I gave Wellbutrin a try, but it didn't do anything for my depression problems. It's not the right medication for me. The SSRI's work the best for me, in fact, I'm very experienced with many of them. I've tried almost all and unfortunately, they all produce unfavorable sexual sides, but it's a trade-off though, b/c they eliminate the depression.

I'm going to see if I can get by on half my prescribed dose. Maybe this will help in the sex-drive department.

Anyone else out there have any success dealing with this problem?

bro i am with you. after my divorce i had mad depression problems...started with celexa...no libido....switched to lexapro at 20mg/day.....same problem. my dr. put me on a newer SSRI called Remeron....since then, everything has been good to go with "captain happy"....give it a try!
