It also finally took me giving up drinking too. Once I quit drinking the my weight has been going up. Now i'm able to spend more time and money on my eating habbits instead of my old drinking habbits.
same here i used to have a high metabolism but i guess after doing some cycles and eating like a horse and not much cardio i slowed it down enough to gain weight easier. congrats on giving up the drinking and good luck bro
 
i also aim for 500g of pro a day but im no where near 6-7k cals a day. damn. i get 300g pro in powder alone and the rest from meat, cottage cheese and other crap i eat.
 
Champion nutrition has a very good gainer. EAS also (mass factor) - both are low in sugar (as much as possible). Consider meal replacements also
